Outdoor CorePower Yoga at Culver City Steps (July 2, 9, 16, 23, 30) -> CorePower Yoga will host several free outdoor classes every Tuesday in July at the Culver City Steps. Classes start at 6:30 p.m. and will run through September 10. You’ll need to bring your own yoga mat and pre register for classes. More info here.
July 4th Fireworks Spectacular at The Hollywood Bowl (July 2-4) -> Harry Connick Jr. headlines this year’s Hollywood Bowl celebration, which will once again be a three-day event featuring a concert followed by a spectacular fireworks display over the iconic shell. More info here.
Grand Park 4th of July Block Party (July 4)- M FA > DTLA’s biggest free 4th of July event is back with an evening-long celebration (starting at 4 p.m.) featuring live performances, a 75-foot ferris wheel, an array of onsite food trucks, and a spectacular drone light show to cap the evening. Cinespia (July 4 through July 27) -> Cinespia returns to the Hollywood Forever Cemetery this month with movie screenings that include Rocky with fireworks on July 4 and La Bamba on July 27 closing out the season. Tickets cost $22-$32. More info here.
4th of July Fireworks Show at the Torrance Civic Center (July 4) -> The City of Torrance will put on a fireworks show at the Torrance Civic Center with viewing locations at the West parking lot of the LA County Court House, and the L.A. Galaxy Sports Complex. You don’t have to buy a ticket, but attendance is limited and based on first-come, first-served. The pyrotechnics begin at 9 p.m. More info here.
Rose Bowl Stadium 4th of July (July 4) -> The longest-running fireworks display on the West Coast returns to the Rose Bowl on July 4, preceded by a rivalry match between LAFC and the Los Angeles Galaxy as they battle it out for local bragging rights. More info here.
Anime Expo (July 4-7) – M > Anime Expo’s four-day event returns to the Los Angeles Convention Center to start July, offering anime lovers meet-and-greets with anime creators, special panels, Q&A’s, workshops, interactive experiences and so much more. Four-day passes cost $165, you can also grab a single day ticket which cost between $75-$90. More info here.
Councilmember Bob Blumenfield’s July 4th Extravaganza (July 4) -> The Valley Cultural Foundation’s massive 4th of July event at Warner Ranch Park includes a performance by Angela O’Neill and the Outrageous8, plus a over dozen onsite food trucks and 20-minute fireworks display after sundown. The event listing mentions the park can accommodates up to 40,000 attendees, so expect a crowd! Free to attend. More info here.
4th of July Fireworks in Marina del Rey (July 4) – FA > Marina del Rey will offer a free 20-minute fireworks show along the coast with viewing spots at Burton Chace Park or Fisherman’s Village. Show begins at 9 p.m. and is free to attend. More info here.
Shakespeare By the Sea (now through August 3) – FA > The 27th anniversary season of Shakespeare By the Sea kicks off in June at The Bandshell at Recreation Park in Long Beach with productions of Shakespeares lost play Cardenio: Double Falsehood and Henry IV. All shows are free to attend, but donations are gladly accepted. Performances run at locations throughout L.A. and Orange County through Aug. 3. More info here.
Movies at The Steps (July 5, 12, 19, 26) – FA > Watch family friendly movies every Friday night at the Culver City Steps. Screenings start at 8:30 p.m. it’s free to attend and complimentary popcorn will be provided. More info here.
The Handbuilt Invitational (July 5-7) -> Three-day event pops up at DTLA Auto Storage, showcasing more than the Bikes and cars from notable figures in the automotive world. These include Jay Leno, Jonathan Ward of ICON 4×4, Rod Emory of Emory Motorsports, Roland Sands, and Shinya Kimura.Chris. More info here.
LACMA Latin Sounds (July 6, 13, 20, 27) – FA > LACMA is bringing a series of Saturday evening, outdoor concerts at Dorothy Collins Brown Amphitheate (just north of the La Brea Tar Pits Museum) in celebration of the exhibition Painting in the River of Angels: Judy Baca and The Great Wall. Latin Sounds concerts are free to attend, and run 5 to 7 p.m.
The Petersen Automotive Museum All-American Cruise-In (July 7) -> The Petersen Automotive Museum will host its annual All-American Cruise-In featuring hundreds of high-octane American muscle cars and hot rods. The day will also host a panel discussion with automotive legends and well as complimentary bagels, coffee and on-site parking for the public. This event is free to attend. More info here.
NoHo Summer Nights (now through August 24) – FA > NoHo Summer Nights brings film screenings and/or live performances to North Hollywood Recreation Center every Saturday from now through August 24. Free to attend, and no RSVP required. More info here.
Moonlight Movies on the Beach (July 9, 11, 16, 23) – FA > Long Beach’s signature beachside summer cinema series is back for 2024, continuing with four screenings in July split between Granada Beach and the Long Beach City College, Liberal Arts Campus. The lineup includes The Meg (July 9), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (July 11), The Princess Bride (July 16), and The Sandlot (July 23). Movies starts around sunset (8 to 8:30 p.m.). Free to attend, and parking is free after 6 p.m., though spots are limited. More info here.
Shakespeare in the Park (starting July 10) – FA > The Independent Shakespeare Co. is once again bringing a summer of the Bard to Griffith Park, but unlike in past years, the 2024 season will focus on a single production. From July 10 to September 1, catch Wednesday-through-Sunday performances of As You Like It at ISC’s familiar space near the Old Zoo. Word is they will be releasing some new details on the construction of their permanent stage in the park too, so stay tuned on that front. More info here.
Summer of Salsa (July 12) – M FA > The LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes Summer of Salsa series kicked off last month, but the rhythm continues one Friday each month through the end of summer, highlighting some of the city’s best salsa and Cuban bands in the process. Doors open at 6 p.m., and music starts at 7 p.m. Always free to attend. More info here.
Outdoor Movies at the Skirball (July 12) – > The Skirball’s annual outdoor movies series returns this month with a screening of Pan’s Labyrinth. Plus: guests are invited to come early to view the latest Skirball exhibition Wild Things Are Happening: The Art of Maurice Sendak. Tickets start at $20. More info here.
South Bay Greek Festival (July 12-14) -> The South Bay Greek Festival is a three-day affair at St. Katherine’s Greek Orthodox Church in Redondo Beach offering lots of Greek food (spanakopita, lamb chops, baklava), dancing, and fun. Entry fee is $5. More info here.
The Music Center’s Dance DTLA (now through August 16) – M FA > Free evening dance parties return to The Music Center’s Jerry Moss Plaza every Friday from June 21 through August 16 (skipping July 5). At Dance DTLA, instructors will be on hand to teach guests easy-to-follow steps, allowing everyone to get into the groove right from the jump. The 2024 schedule included themed nights for Bollywood, Samba, Hip-Hop, Disco, and more. Always free to attend. More info here.
Barbie Movie Screening at Petersen Automotive Museum ( July 12) – FA > The Petersen Automotive Museum is hosting a panel with the creative minds behind Mattel’s beloved toys. The iconic pink Barbie Corvette will be on display, followed by a special screening of the Barbie movie. The event is free and open to all. Guests are encouraged to wear their best pink outfits, and families are welcome. More info here.
Grand Performances (July 12,13,20,26,27) – M FA > Outdoor concerts in the heart of downtown on Fridays (and some Saturdays) from June to August. This year’s Grand Performances promises a diverse schedule of performances, including the Women’s Mariachi Festival to Okwy Osadebe and more. All shows free to attend. Asada Fest (July 13) -> Asada Fest, presented by Northgate González Market, is turning Rolling Greens in the Arts District into one huge block party. Enjoy delicious recipes from notable chefs like Javier Plascencia, Claudette Zepeda, and Daniel Castillo. Your ticket also includes live cooking demos, live music, and lucha libre matches. Main Street Santa Monica Summer Soulstice (July 13) – FA > Santa Monica’s Main Street comes alive on July 13 with an afternoon of fun featuring two stages of live music, vendors,a beer garden, and special activities for kids. Free to attend. Get more info here.

Echo Park Lotus Festival (July 13) – FA > The 43rd annual Lotus Festival honors the people and culture of the Philippines for 2024 with live music, children’s activities, a lantern launch, dragon boat races, and more. Free to attend, but you want to participate in the lantern portion you can buy tickets starting at $25. Go Metro: Take Line 92 to Glendale / Santa Ynez.
KCRW Summer Nights (July 13, 20, 27) – M > KCRW’s summer of free programming promises another exciting month of music events popping up at iconic venues and cultural institutions around Los Angeles. For July, there will be an activation LA Plaza followed by back-to-back Saturday night events at Union Station. Get more info here.
Levitt Pavilion Los Angeles Concerts (July 13, 20, 27) – FA > Levitt Pavilion Los Angeles routinely offers the most prolific annual free concert series in the city, all taking place at MacArthur Park. For July, you can catch evenings of Alternative/Indie Rock, Hip-Hop, and a tribute to Stevie Wonder. More info here.
Movies Under the Stars (July 13 & July 27) – M FA > Old Pasadena shopping mall One Colorado is hosting Movies Under the Stars on select Saturdays in July. Screenings include Pitch Perfect on July 13, and Legally Blonde on July 27. Public seating is first-come, first-served. More info.
LA Zoo Roaring Nights (July 13) -> The L.A. Zoo’s annual Roaring Nights is back with an 80’s themed 21+ evening of music, dancing, food, drinks, a painting party and animal encounters. Tickets cost $25 a person. More info here.
Sunday Afternoon Concerts in the Dome (July 14) -> Mount Wilson Observatory continues its 2024 season of classical concerts hosted inside the historic 100-inch telescope dome, where the acoustics are said to be some of the finest in the world. There will be two musical performances, one at 3 p.m. and the other at 5 p.m. Tickets are $60. More info here
Valley Vibes Market (July 14) -> Valley Vibes Market brings 60+ vendors to the Autry Museum to showcase unique and handcrafted goods. Plus, guests can expect music, food trucks, a stocked bar, and free parking. Admission is free. Runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. More info here.
Sunset Concerts at Skirball (July 18 & 25) – FA > The Skirball Cultural Center’s annual Sunset Concert series kicks off in July with a handful of concerts, offering after-hours performances from artists of the Jewish, African, and Cuban diasporas. July 18 welcomes Afro-Puerto Rican Bomba Fusion ensemble El Laberinto del Coco with French-Moroccan power quartet Bab L’ Bluz to follow on July 25. Free walk-up tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking is available from $15-$20. More info here.
RuPaul’s DragCon (July 19-20) -> Expect two days of all things drag via a series of panels, shopping, performances plus plenty of face time from the stars of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Single day tickets range from $25 to $150. More info here.
Summer Concerts at The Broad (July 19 & July 20) -> The Broad hosts two nights of out door concerts at East West Bank Plaza. Tickets give guests access to the special exhibition Mickalene Thomas: All About Love and the third-floor gallery during the after hours event. GA cost $50 and VIP $75. More info here.
Off the 405 (July 20 & July 27) – FA > Off the 405 the Getty’s annual after-hours summer concerts series continues in July with Helado Negroon on July 20 and Julia Holter on July 27. You’ll need to pre-register for free to attend, and remember that parking is $10 after 6 p.m. on Saturdays. More info here.
Second Annual Afro-Latino Culture Fest at LA Plaza (July 20)- M FA > The second annual Afro-Latino Culture Fest at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes celebrates the rich tradition of Afro-Latino(a)(x) and Caribbean cultures with an array of food vendors, Caribbean inspired cocktails, a beer garden, special vendors, community resources, and kid-friendly activities. Glendale Chalk-A-Doodle Festival (July 20) – FA > The Glendale Chalk-A-Doodle Festival brings a day of fun-chalk murals, doodle-making station, live music, and community art to Glendale Marketplace. More info here.
KCON LA (July 26-28) – M > The traveling celebration of Korean music and culture comes to Crypto.com Arena and the L.A. Long Beach Dragon Boat Festival (July 27) – FA > The Long Beach Dragon Boat Festival returns to Marine Stadium Long Beach for the largest dragon boat competition in California. National Day of the Cowboy & Cowgirl at The Autry (July 27) -> For National Day of the Cowboy & Cowgirl the Autry is extending its museum hours until 7:30 p.m. and guests of all ages can enjoy trick ropers, cowboy poetry, live music, country line dancing lessons, film screenings, and docent-led tours all day.
