Did somebody say free museums?

In addition to today’s LA Marathon (keep an eye out for the road closures), the biggest thing going this Sunday is the SoCal Museums Free-For-All, which offers gratis admission at over two dozen area institutions all on the same day. But if “museum” isn’t your love language. no worries. We’ll get into some other options below.

Make Metro Part of Your Weekend

Mujeres En La PlayitaFA > Head to Highland Park’s De La Playa Records this Sunday for an afternoon fiesta featuring a Bar Flores cocktail takeover featuring beverage director Karla Flores-Mercado, pop oysters and tostadas Perlitas, mechanical bull riding, and tunes from an all-female lineup of DJs. Party goes from noon to 6 p.m. Free to attend. More info here.

SoCal Museums Museum Free-for-AllFA > This Sunday, the SoCal Museums Museums Free-for-All returns for an annual regional collaboration between over thirty museums and cultural institutions, all of which will offer free admission on the same date. The 2025 list of participants includes many Metro-accessible locations, including LACMA, The Getty, The Broad, The Autry, The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, and more. Plus, if you do ride Metro, some locations are Metro riders with a TAP card special discount at their stores. More info here.

Soil Health & Earth Regeneration Workshop FA > This Sunday, the Crenshaw Dairy Mart will host a special workshop on Soil Health & Earth Regeneration. Master Gardener Waunette Cullors of WOW Flower Project and artist gene aguilar magaña lead guests toward a better understanding of soil health and restoration through community gardening practices, including the use of restorative California native seeds to counter toxic pollution and building sculptural seed capsules from compost. Spring Community Market at The CompoundFA > On Sunday, The Compound in Long Beach will host a Spring Community Market featuring special activations and a local vendor lineup. Programming includes a microgreens planting station with Golden Garden, live poetry with Typewriters Anonymous, and intuitive tea blending with Lucky Penny. It’s all free to attend.
