1. [10 a.m.] Two miles of Santa Monica streets will be closed for the 4th Annual COAST Open Streets where the public will be invited to bike, skate, run, and walk freely and safely. There will be roaming musicians, hands-on activities, and free artist-led workshops where attendees can create and decorate costumes. FREE
2. [10 a.m.] The 73rd annual East Los Angeles Mexican Independence Day Parade and celebration will take over Cesar E. Chávez Ave. starting at Mednik St. and ending at Record Ave. There will be live music, food, vendors and more. FREE
3. [10 a.m.] Massive foodie market Smorgasburg LA in Downtown Los Angeles is open every Sunday and brings a massive roster of indie food pop ups, merchandise vendors and more at ROW DTLA. This weekend they’ll host the LA Record Fair, curated by Beat Swap Meet where over 10,000 items like vintage vinyl, vintage t-shirts, cassettes and CDs will be for sale.
4. [11 a.m.] Get ready to scream, be amazed or simply turn away because Son of Monsterpalooza is coming just in time for Halloween with makeup demos, panels, and more happening September 13-15.
5. [noon] The Family Style Food Fest, presented by DoorDash and The Hundreds brings one of a kind dishes, prominent streetwear brands and performance artists together for a festival this Sunday.
6. [noon] México’s quest for independence launched on September 16, 1810. In remembrance, LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes will host a family day with live entertainment and culinary, garden, and art workshops. FREE
7. [noon] Amazon’s Treasure Truck Hosts “Downton Abbey” Grand High Tea Experience. FREE
8. [noon] The first-ever Museum of Weed is a 30,000 square foot space of ‘higher learning’ presented by WeedMaps aims to provide insight and history into marijuana through interactive exhibits, Instagram-friendly art installations and a bevy of historical artifacts. The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday now till September 29. Admission starts at $35.
9. [various] PaleyFest returns to the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills September 5-15 with panels and screenings of the most hotly anticipated new fall TV shows. Check for discounted tickets before making your purchase. DISCOUNTED (via Goldstar)
10. [various] UNIDENTIFIED LANDED OBJECT (“ULO”) opens at ROW DTLA for an otherworldly experience where an adaptation of the installation Light Leaks by technology artist Kyle McDonald and Jonas Jongejan, Creative Technologist at Google Creative Lab can be experienced. Visitors will be pulled into an optical illusion of millions of flickering reflections that dance off of mirror balls hitting every inch of the space. ULO will run Tuesdays through Sunday until September 28.
