Los Angeles provides no limit of things to do, some awesome and some not so awesome. Since time is precious in this fast paced city, we decided to curate a list of things to do in Los Angeles every weekend that’ll help you decide how you want to spend your limited supply of attention (not to mention dollars!).
This weekend includes LA Street Food Fest, the Old Pasadena Film Fest, a hot sauce expo, Outfest, FREE slurpees, and a FREE garden party at NHM.

1. Summer Garden Party at The Natural History Museum
Great music, garden-inspired cocktails, hands-on garden and science projects, botanical tours, food trucks, and more at the NHM’s Summer Nights in the Garden. Join food writer Emily Han for a hands-on pickling workshop, make your very own nature screen print, go on a botanical tour of the Nature Gardens led by NHM staff even build bee hotels with NHM entomologists! Bring a picnic or enjoy food trucks like Green Truck, Coolhaus, and Mandoline Grill. Just make sure you RSVP for free admission.
2. Outfest LA
Outfest LA is a LGBT Film Festival bringing the best in LGBT storytelling. Happening in multiple locations now through the 19th the full schedule can be found on the official site. Keep in mind Goldstar has several tickets for half price this weekend if you have a specific show in mind you want to see:

3. FIGat7th Downtown Festival
The Plaza Level at FIGat7th in DTLA invites the public for a free night of music by King and Mara Hruby. Explore the bars and restaurants at Fig at the same time! Doors open at 7:00pm for the Plaza Bar and the show starts at 8:00pm.
4. Summertime Cinema Returns To Westfield Culver City and Westfield Fashion Square
Westfield Culver City and Westfield Fashion Square in Sherman Oaks are bringing back Summertime Cinema, a summertime family fun movie screening series. Every Friday, starting July 10th through August 7th, beloved movies will be screened outdoors at both centers allowing attendees to relive the magic of the big screen. The movies are free to the public and viewers will enjoy various special goodies at the event.
5. Grand Performances
Every June Grand Performances begins a summer-long concert series that brings Angelenos together with an eclectic mix of musical performances at a unique setting in Downtown L.A. The shows are 100% free to the public all summer long so bring you dance moves!
6. American Apparel Friday Summer Sale/Party
American Apparel will be throwing in-store shopping parties every Friday through July. From 6:00pm to 9:00pm shoppers can save 30% off storewide, nosh on free bites and beverages, and enjoy live beats by a Viva Radio DJ. This week the party will take place at the Los Feliz shop (4665 Hollywood Blvd.), and July 17th at the Downtown factory store (747 Warehouse St.).
7. Discussion: Can Urban Riots Cause Change?
California State Senator Holly Mitchell, urban sociologist Max Herman, and UCLA historian Robin D.G. Kelley will hold an enlightening discussion on urban riots. Topics will include whether the cost of riots outweighs the benefits, whether they can inspire real progress, and more. This is part of Zocola Public Square events.
8. ComedySportz: Fast & Funny Improv
ComedySportz is a fast-paced comedy show designed for the whole family. Watch as two teams battle for points and LOL’s at the National Comedy Theatre in Hollywood. Tickets are priced between $15-$18 normally, but you can find half-price tickets (plus fees) via Goldstar.
9. Old Town Pasadena Film Festival
The Old Pasadena Film Festival brings back its annual summer series for an entire month of (mostly) outdoor movie screenings. Best part? All events are FREE and open to the public.

10. Bring Your Own Dance Moves
Get your boogie on at this FREE weekly summer dance party hosted by the Music Center in Downtown Los Angeles.
11. Have Your Kiddie Bowl Free All Summer at Pinz!
Pinz in Studio City is giving kids two free games every single day of the summer. All you need to do is rent bowling shoes and register your child ahead of time.
12. Le French Festival
In a celebration of French artisans and culture in Los Angeles, Selavi Global and Canard Duchêne Champagne have teamed up to launch the brand new Le French Festival set to take place across Los Angeles from July 4th to 14th. The event will end with a closing night party produced by French Tuesdays on Bastille Day, July 14th at Riviera 31 at the Sofitel Hotel.
13. Joseph Holtzman At The Hammer
New York–based artist Joseph Holtzman covered the walls of the Hammer’s project gallery with green felt, painted the ceiling green and placed Christmas-colored couches in the middle of the room. Its really the kind of couches you would sink into the moment you sit on it… hey guess what! you’re allowed to sit on these! A selection of Holtzman’s recent works from 2006 – 2011 will also be on view in the space designed by the artist.

14. California Hot Sauce Expo
Spice things up at the first annual California Hot Sauce Expo. Taking place at the Rainbow Lagoon Park admission includes samples from exclusive hot sauce vendors, access to insane eating challenges and even a Guinness World Records-sanctioned Pepper Eating Challenge. Admission is $10 but Goldstar has tickets for just $5 for Saturday and Sunday.
15. Family Jam at The LA Zoo
This after-hours musical extravaganza combines kids karaoke with up-close animal encounters. In the addition to the music, food, and dancing, kids can also enjoy a Jammin’ Animals Search, a set of clues that will lead seekers on a search throughout the zoo culminating in a small prize at the end. If you plan to go, make sure to grab tickets for $5 off via our friends at Goldstar.
16. Eat|See|Hear Screens Back To The Future
Eat|See|Hear features live pre-show music plus a selection of L.A.’s best food trucks, all centered around screenings of iconic films. Since this month is the 30th anniversary of Back To The Future ESH is screening the cult classic at Centennial Square in front of the Pasadena City Hall.
Bonus: The event organizers have agreed to hook us up with some free food vouchers to pass out to our community members. Find us and you can have dinner on ESH!
17. 90’s Hollywood Prom Party
Ever wanted a redo on your prom night? Well here’s your chance! The super popular 90’s Prom Party comes to the Music Box at The Fonda in Hollywood. Toast the decade that birthed grunge, alt rock and pop punk. There’ll be a DJ and a live band to play all your favorite 90’s songs. There will be a rockin photo booth to capture all of your new prom memories too.
18. LA Street Food Festival
Taking place at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, the LA Street Food Festival is an adventure park for foodies. Last year over 6,000 people showed up to sample 100+ food and drink vendors. Now in it’s 6th year more award winning top chefs, restaurants, food trucks and stands will be available. We suggest beating the lines with VIP tickets.
19. Renegade Craft Fair
Taking place at DTLA’s Grand Park, the Renegade Craft Fair will feature handmade goodies, DIY workshops, art work by independent artists and more. The fair is happening through Sunday from 11:00am to 6:00pm. Plenty of food trucks will be on hand and admission is free! Inside tip! They are also offering a free Uber ride (up to $20) to the fair with their code RCF2015.
20. Get a FREE Slurpee at 7-Eleven
7-Eleven celebrates the date of their namesake by offering a free Slurpee for all customers. Freebies are available on a first come, first serve basis at participating 7-Eleven stores from 11:00am – 7:00pm.

22. Family Day With The Minions At L.A. LIVE
L.A. LIVE is hosting a Family Day Takeover from noon to 8:00pm. Check out The Minions movie on opening weekend at Regal Cinemas L.A. LIVE and enjoy a free day of entertainment and events with your kids like minion character appearances, live music, street performances and story tellers.
23. CAN I KICK IT?
CAN I KICK IT? invites fans of hip hop to be part of a hilarious new take on an old school tradition of watching music videos with buds. To make things interesting, Al Jackson and a panel of comedians/entertainers/rappers will give comedic commentary to some of your favorite rap videos from the 70’s-90’s in front of a live audience. Happening at NerdMelt tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door.
24. #BeautyConLA
Hundreds of content creators and celebrities will come together to discuss the future of online media, hang out with fans and participate in panel discussions and Q&As. Thousands of beauty fans will attend to participate in interactive presentations, watch performances, create content, shop, learn about new products, and mingle with #BeautyConLA celebs like Christina Milian, Claire Marshall and Dulce Candy.
25. Canvas Combat LA
Come watch over 50 local artists as their paint brushes collide in a live, timed, art competition called Canvas Combat. Get up close and watch artists as they compete in a series of timed rounds creating their most impressive works for a cash prize. Tickets are $10 at the door and come with free pancakes served by The Pancakes & Booze Art Show. The event takes place at Exchange LA from 7:00pm to 10:00pm.
26. Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions
This one is for the folks who are missing out on Comic Con in San Diego this weekend. Immerse yourself in the Pokémon: Symphonic Evolution. Orchestral arrangements will feature carefully timed visuals to draw you into the world of Pokémon all happening at the Greek Theatre. Tickets run $56 to $86 but our friends at Goldstar has them for $25 to $55!
27. A Hard Day’s Night Cinespia Screening
It’s Beatlemania at the iconic Hollywood Forever Cemetery as Cinespia screens A Hard Day’s Night . The Fab Four’s 1964 mod flick will have you singing along even after the movie is over.
28. International Musical Whistling Festival
Wait, so competitive whistling is a thing? Yup, and this Saturday in Pasadena champions from around the world will perform and compete in The Masters of Musical Whistling. Tickets are $8 online, and $10 at the door.
29. Ben Jones Exhibit At Ace Gallery
The self-titled exhibition, Ben Jones, will transform Ace Gallery into an immersive space filled with optical illusions, vivid colors and wall-climbing New Ladder sculptures as well as the introduction of T.V. Paintings and Cinema Paintings a new category of art-making created by the artist. Opening night takes place 7:00pm to 9:00pm and will be on display at Ace Gallery in Beverly Hills till September.
30. Crenshaw Healthfest
California State Assembly member Sebastian Ridley-Thomas will host the Crenshaw Healthfest at Baldwin Hills Crenshaw, held in conjunction with the shopping center’s weekly Farmers Market. The event will feature free health screenings and fitness classes, and will offer important information about health, nutrition and medical care from a variety of community health service providers. Hundreds of community members are expected to attend.
31. The Dollface Dames Burlesque Show at Magicopolis
L.A. based burlesque troupe The Dollface Dames take over the Magicopolis stage for a night of tease, balloon popping, belly dance and even clogging? Lets just say they do a lot in their 80 minute show. But the fun doesn’t end there the Magicopolis bartenders double as magicians! Grab half price tickets and spend your money at the bar!

Watch a classic movie inside the British Burlington Arcade during a summer screening series curtesy of Pasadena sandwich shop Float. Twice a month, Float will create a specialty ice cream float to go with the evening’s film this week they will screen Wall-E. The movie starts at 8:00pm!

33. Romeo + Juliet: Love is a Battlefield
What happens when a classic Shakespearean story gets merged with a soundtrack by Pat Benatar? 34. Yoga With A View

35. To Live and Dine in L.A.
The latest exhibition to hit the Los Angeles Central Library: To Live and Dine in L.A. is one for the foodie nostalgic. Come celebrate the history of food in Los Angeles and view a massive collection of rare, first-edition menus from restaurants that have long since closed. The exhibit aims to promote the historical significance of LA’s food culture, and will feature over 50 food and menu related programs, including lectures, cooking demos and nutrition workshops. 36. Japanese Paintings And Prints Exhibit At LACMA
Part of the museum’s 50th-anniversary celebration, this exhibit will feature a collection of Japanese art, ceramics, netsuke, and more.
37. Los Angeles Fermentation Festival
The Los Angeles Fermentation Festival is a celebration of all things fermented! Kimchi, pickles, cider, Kombucha… it’s all here! The festival will feature experts in the fermentation world, plenty of puckering samples and even a DIY pickling station. There’s also a Farm-to-Bar area where guest can sample a variety of fermented libations!
