Is it fall yet? Kids are back in school. Pumpkin spice lattes are back on the menu. Halloween is around the corner. L.A. doesn’t actually have seasons, you say? Screw it. We’re calling it Autumn.

From September 16-18 in Los Angeles, check out a movie night at The Huntington, Primavera Sound at L.A. State Historic Park, Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day, 626 Night Market Mini, a garden party at Hauser & Wirth, Moompetam Festival at the Aquarium of the Pacific, Dino Fest at NHM, a KCRW concert in Old Pasadena, the East L.A. Things To Do This Weekend

Movie Night at The Huntington -> This Friday, The Huntington hosts a family-friendly movie night on the lawn featuring a screening of Raya and the Last Dragon paired with delicious bites for sale including a Korean BBQ food station, nacho Bar, and Fluff Ice dessert truck. Adult tickets are $20, youth (4-17) are $10, and kids 3 and under are free. Get more info here.

Primavera Sound -> Catch the first U.S. edition of Barcelona’s iconic music festival, Primavera Sound, this Friday to Sunday at L.A. State Historic State Park. The three-day lineup includes Arctic Monkeys, Nine Inch Nails, Lorde, James Blake, and Clairo. Over 50 artists will play in all. Tickets start at $159 for one-day general admission. More info here

Rupaul’s Drag Race Werq The World Tour -> This Friday, The North American leg of Werq the World hits Los Angeles on September at Shrine Auditorium, with a lineup that includes Kim Chi, Naomi Smalls, Willow Pill, Lady Camden, Jaida Essence Hall, Yvie Oddly, Bosco, and Daya Betty. BeachLife Ranch -> On Friday to Sunday, beach vibes meet country music when BeachLife Ranch takes over Redondo Beach with performances by The Lumineers, Hall & Oates, Brandi Carlile, Wilco and Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real and more. More info here.

DTLA Film Festival -> This annual showcase of 100+ films runs at Regal L.A. LIVE from September 14-18. This weekend includes a Centerpiece Gala on Friday evening and an after-party on Saturday, both held at SAS Movie Studio. Get more info here.

Redondo Movie Nights -> On Fridays through September 30, catch free movie screenings on the Redondo Beach Pier. This week they’ll screen Encanto. Event starts at 7 p.m. More info here.

Movie Night at Ivy Station -> Culver City’s Ivy Station hosts a public movie screening of Raiders of the Lost Ark this Friday that includes free popcorn and free silent wireless headphone rentals, and fun raffle prizes. Movie starts at 7:30 p.m. Seating is first-come, first-served. More info here.

Halloween Horror Nights -> Scary season continues at Universal Studios this Thursday to Sunday. The fall horror takeover features the signature Terror Tram, plus a litany of scare zones, lives shows, and eight different haunted houses, including a nightmare experience based on The Weeknd’s After Hours video series. GA tickets start at $72, but VIP and express packages can push the price point well over $300 depending on the offer. Runs on select dates through October 31. Get more info here.

Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day -> A dozen Southland museums offer free admission for Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day this Saturday. Participants include the GRAMMY Museum, California African American Museum, Japanese American National Museum, American Museum of Ceramic Art and more. This year participants are allowed to download one ticket per email address. The ticket provides free general admission for two on the date of the event. More info here

Oktoberfest  at Firestone Walker  Venice -> On Saturday, The Propagator, a Brewhouse, taproom & store at Firestone Walker Brewing Company Venice, is set to host an Oktoberfest party with live music, games, an Oktoberfest themed menu, and special Oktoberfest-inspired beers. Arroyo Arts Collective Discovery Tour Revival 2022 -> Tour historic private residences, art studios and galleries in Highland Park this Saturday as part of this ticketed, one-day only event featuring members of the Arroyo Arts Collective. Tickets run $15 per person. Get more info here.

Sound of Music Sing-A-Long -> Saturday, If two of your favorite things are sing-alongs and The Sound of Music, head to the Hollywood Bowl for an evening of entertainment perfect for the whole family. LA Beer Fest -> This Saturday, L.A. Beer Fest is back with a one-day event featuring 80+ domestic and international brewers, plus food trucks, live music, a Power 106 DJ, and more, all taking place at LA Center Studios. GA tickets start at $50. Get more info here.

Hostile Terrain ‘94: The Undocumented Migration Project -> A new multimedia exhibition at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes open this Saturday, highlighting the life and death consequences of immigration enforcement policies. Saturday’s opening includes a conversation and workshop with with members of the Undocumented Migration Project. Free to attend. LA Plaza opens at noon, and the special programming begins at 2 p.m. Hostile Terrain ’94 will remain on view through July 9, 2023. Get more info here.

Chinatown Moon Festival -> The annual Mid-Autumn Moon Festival brings an evening of live performance, dance, and Mooncake to the heart of Chinatown. Activities run from 5 to 9 p.m., including a Moon Festival Children’s Parade schedule for 7:30. Get more info here.

LUMINEX 2.0: Projected Realities -> This Saturday, check out a one-night augmented reality art exhibition featuring 12 site-specific installations projected on building facades spread over a 5-block radius of the South Park neighborhood in DTLA. Expect a digital drone activation, live performances, sound and video feeds, and an artist lineup that includes Refik Anadol, Nancy Baker Cahill, Sarah Rara, Luciana Abait, Akiko Yamashita, Carole Kim, David Van Eyssen, Leah Smithson, Nate Mohler, Ryan P Griffin, Mark Hashimoto and Elizabeth Leister. Grand Performances -> This Saturday, Grand Performances celebrates the 5-year anniversary of Cumbiatón with a free, all-ages show that includes performances from Mariposas Del Alma, Maria Chingona, and Naydan. Runs 6 to 10 p.m. at Cal Plaza. Get more info here.

KCRW Summer Nights at One Colorado -> After a rainout last weekend, KCRW Summer Nights circles back to One Colorado in Old Pasadena this Saturday for a performance by camp/funk maestro Tolliver. The evening starts at 7:30 p.m. with a DJ set by KCRW’s Travis Holcombe. Free to attend, no RSVP needed. Get more info here.

New Exhibitions at CAAM -> On Saturday, the California African American Museum debuts two new exhibitions: conceptual artist Chloë Bass’s #sky #nofilter: Hindsight for a Future America and multidisciplinary artist Justen LeRoy’s Lay Me Down in Praise. Summer Saturdays at Hauser & Wirth -> Hauser & Wirth’s Summer Saturdays series wraps up this weekend with one final afternoon of DJ’d tunes from Zuri Adia and specialty cocktails from Manuela. No tickets are required for entry, and Hauser & Wirth galleries will also be open that day for the public to explore. Runs on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. More info here.

Beyond All Measure: The Sea, the Sky, the Horizon of Our Transitional Present -> This Saturday, arts and science collide for a day-long lineup of presentations and talks from multi-disciplinary artists and leading climate experts, all free to the public at the ASU Herald Examiner Building in DTLA. The event is part of the 2022 Fulcrum Festival, which runs September 15-25. Get more info here.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space Cosplay Dance Party  -> Zombie Joe Underground Theatre Group is known for pushing the live horror envelope, but it’s hard to imagine anything freakier than a full-on cosplay dance party themed to the 1988 cult classic Killer Klowns from Outer Space. This two-evening event (Saturday and Sunday) includes a synth-metal DJ set by Killer Klowns composer John Massari plus special prizes for air guitar, air drum, best costume and best tattoo. Tickets are $20 online, or $25 at the door. More info here

The 626 Night Market Mini -> 626 Night Market is back in Santa Monica in this fall with a smaller version of their popular Asian-fusion food market, starting this Saturday and Sunday. The open-air food event includes over two dozen vendors offering an array of dishes and an alcohol garden for attendees 21 years and older. The market is free to attend, capacity is limited and advance tickets can be reserved through Eventbrite. 

Moompetam Festival -> On Saturday and Sunday, the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach celebrates the cultures of local native peoples through a two-day event featuring storytelling, dance, performance, and crafts. Admittance to the festival is included with general admission, which starts at $36.95 for adults. Runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Get more info here.

Dino Fest at Natural History Museum -> This Sunday, Dino Fest returns to NHMLA for a day of celebrating the prehistoric giants that once ruled the earth. Expect to see rare specimens from NHM’s permanent collections, partake in hands-on activities, shop dino-themed merch, and more. Tickets go on sale September 8. More info here

Americana in the Park -> McCabe’s Guitar Shop and the City of Santa Monica team up for a series of free concerts held at Gandara Park every Sunday in September. All events run 4 to 7 p.m., and are free to attend. This weekend, Earthworm Ensemble opens for alt-country rockers I See Hawks in L.A. See the complete series lineup and get more details here.

Mexican Independence Parade -> On Sunday, the 76th annual East Los Angeles Mexican Independence Parade takes over a 1-mile stretch of Cesar E. Chavez Ave between Mednik and Record, with an adjoining festival popping on Mednik and running south to 1st St. Expect music, entertainment, and plenty of family fun. Parade starts at 10 a.m. and festival activities run 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Free to attend. More info here.

Free Que for Messhall’s 10th Anniversary -> On Sunday, Messhall celebrates their 10-year anniversary with a BBQ party featuring free barbecue plates (served till they run out!), cocktail specials, games, raffles and music from DJ Billy Badlove. The fun runs from 5 to 8 p.m. Kid and dog friendly. More info here.

A Grape Stomp & Wine Tasting at Vintage Wine + Eats -> This Saturday, Studio City wine bar Vintage Wine + Eats teams up with the LA Times Food Bowl to host a Harvest Party and Grape Stomp featuring wine flights from Byron Blatty, Cavaletti, Adorato, Acri Wines and AJA Vineyards. The ticketed event ($46) is a great way to meet the winemakers, taste some California wines and have an I Love Lucy in Italy experience! California-inspired harvest dishes from chef Luke O’Grady of Little Dom’s will also available for purchase during the event.

Cat & Fiddle Afternoon Tea Service -> The classic English pub recently debuted an afternoon tea service menu available on weekends for dine-in and takeout. For $38 the set menu includes three tea sandwiches, a sausage roll, scones with clotted cream, shortbread cookie, tottenham cake, berries and your choice of tea. A limited number of seats are available each day. Reservations required. 

Free Turkey Burgers at Irv’s this Saturday -> Irv’s Burgers marks the launch of Irv’s Turkey Burger this Saturday by giving away 50 free turkey burgers to guests. The historic roadside burger spot was recently resurrected and relocated to West Hollywood with an updated look, the same classic menu and a few new additions. Irv’s Burgers opens at 11 a.m. this Saturday and Irv’s Turkey Burger, which includes a turkey patty, Irv’s sauce, green hatch chilies, tomatoes, lettuce, onions and cheddar cheese on a house-made bun for $9.50. will be officially added to the menu.

10-Year Anniversary Party at Cafe Gratitude Venice Beach -> Celebrate Café Gratitude Venice Beach’s 10th anniversary this Sunday with pop-up vendors including Nomadica, Juneshine, Groundwork, and Stretchlab, PLUS a photo-booth, raffles, tacos from the Gracias Madre’s Taco Cart for purchase and an early-evening DJ “after-party” at the bar with a new beverage and happy hour menu. All hosted by Jason Mraz. The ticketed event runs $15.
