Things To Do This Weekend in L.A.

San Gabriel Fall Festival -> This Friday, the City of San Gabriel kicks off Halloween weekend with a family-friendly affair held at the Mission Playhouse Plaza. Expect trunk-or-treating, games, a costume contest, and a haunted zone at nearby Grapevine Arbor Park. Free to attend. Runs 5 to 9 p.m. More info here.

Trick-Or-Treat at Grand Central Market -> This Friday, Grand Central Market hosts a family-friendly trick-or-treating event featuring delicious treats, a live DJ, face painting, plus drink and dining specials. Runs from 5 to 9 p.m. Free to attend. Get more info here.

Carved at Descanso Gardens -> Descanso Gardens’ latest version of the family-friendly Carved includes brand new UV light installations by Belgian artists Tom&Lien Dekyvere, alongside a hay maze, pumpkin house, and hundreds of carved pumpkins inside the Camellia Forest. Tickets run $32-$38 for non-members. Carved runs nightly through October 31. Get more info here.

Urban Death Tour of Terror -> Zombie Joe’s Underground Theatre’s annual tradition of Urban Death is back with a brand new series of terrifying vignettes, bookended by walks through a creepy maze. The final weekend of performances includes shows this Friday to Monday. Advance tickets are $20 per person. More info here.

Cemetery Lane -> For the second straight weekend, the victorian homes at Heritage Square Museum get a haunted makeover at this throw back trick-or-treat experience featuring 13 themed trick-or-treat stops, plus a hay maze, gift shop, live characters, and more. Tickets are $27-$32 depending on time of entry. The haunt runs now through Monday, October 31. More info here.

Reign of Terror Haunted House -> This award-winning haunted house and walkthrough experience located in Thousand Oaks is now in its 22nd season. The 2022 edition features 135 (!) rooms in 10 different, inter-connected sections within 28,000 square feet of floor space. Standards tickets are $30. Available on select dates through Nov. 5, including this Thursday to Monday. More info here.

Halloween on the Boardwalk -> On Friday, the Redondo Beach Pier Association hosts a family friendly Halloween festival with DJ’d tunes, a costume contest, and trick-or-treat stations right on the boardwalk. Free to attend. Runs 5 to 8 p.m. Get more info here.

ESGVJCC Trunk or Treat –> This Friday, the East San Gabriel Valley Japanese Community Center hosts a family-friendly Halloween event in West Covina from 4 to 7 p.m. Expect trick or treating, crafts, games, mini movie screenings, a book fair, and food trucks. Danny Elfman at The Bowl -> Danny Elfman is back at The Hollywood Bowl for Halloween this Friday and Saturday, backed by the same rock band, orchestra, and choir that he played with at this year’s Coachella Music and Arts Festival. The setlist will include tunes from Oingo Boingo, Elfman’s solo career and classic works from his many film scores and television themes including Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Simpsons, Batman, and more. Scary Movie Month at Melrose Rooftop Theatre -> West Hollywood’s Melrose Rooftop Theatre will be screening some of the most iconic scary films this Friday, Sunday and Halloween Monday. Taking place on the rooftop of E.P. & L.P. in West Hollywood, ticket options include general admission seating for $35 per person or a VIP package complete with a three-course dinner from E.P. Restaurant for $65 per person. 

The Friday Before Halloween Party at Mohawk Bend -> Celebrate the Friday before Halloween at Mohawk Bend in Los Felz with evening festivities featuring drag performances by IAMFAITH, tarot readings by Spirit Garden Tarot, free flash tattoos, dancing, and music by DJ XSSY and Two Front Teeth. Día y Noche de los Muertos at Hollywood Forever -> The 23rd Annual Día de los Muertos festival at Hollywood Forever returns this Saturday, and for the second year in a row the event arrives divided into separate day and evening happenings. Programming varies for the day/night events, but for both expect altars, traditional dance, art exhibits, culinary vendors, and a ceremonial procession. Corgi Beach Day Howloween -> The folks from SoCal Corgi Beach Day host their fall meetup this Saturday at Huntington Dog Beach, and costumed corgis will be the order of the day. Expect prizes for best dressed, food vendors, and plenty of photo ops. Free to attend. Runs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Get more info here.

Pet Space Howl-O-Ween -> PetSpace themes out for Halloween this Saturday with hay maze, pup-kin patch, dog trick-or-treat trail, crafts, haunted photo ops, and more! Snack on some kettle corn, sip hot cider, and enjoy fall activities that everyone, including your four-legged friends, will love. Make sure to enchant the crowd in your Halloween costume, with bonus points for pet-human couples costumes. Free to attend. Run 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. More info here.

Haunted Little Tokyo Block Party -> This Saturday, one of Los Angeles’ most historic neighborhoods is throwing a 21+ block party for spooky season. Free to attend with RSVP. The party will feature live music, a full bar, costume contest, and food. More info here.

Opening Reception + Halloween Party at Thinkspace -> Thinkspace Gallery hosts an opening reception this Saturday to welcome four new exhibitions to the West Adams space. Expect DJ-spun tunes an open bar, free drinks from Liquid Death, video projections from Digital Debris, installations from Balloonski, a vape bar from Timeless, live painting from Allison Bamcat, and  a Halloween costume contest with $500 top prize. Pre-Halloween Party at Figueroa Mountain Brewing Company -> This Saturday, Figueroa Mountain Brewery is throwing a Halloween Party at their Westlake Village taproom. The celebration includes tricks, treats and plenty of beer. No cover to attend. More info here

Fright Night Halloween Party -> The Godfrey hosts a “Fright Night Halloween Party” this Saturday on I|O Rooftop. Guests will walk through a Stranger Things-themed entrance encountering plenty of skeletons and spiders. Once you make it through you’ll be treated to an all-inclusive event featuring two premium open bars, live DJs, food stations, and more. Tickets cost $125 per person. More info here

Long Beach Zombie Walk -> The Long Beach Zombie Walk returns this Saturday, as an “undead horde” of guests make the crawl from Rainbow Harbor to Shoreline Village beginning at 6:30 p.m. Vendors and FX makeup artists will be at Rainbow Harbor starting at noon, and the event officially kicks off with live music at 4 p.m. Free to attend. Dia de los Muertos in Santa Monica -> Santa Monica’s Third Street Promenade gets a Dia de los Muertos makeover from October 28 to November 2, with nine La Catrina sculptures popping up over a three-block stretch of the Promenade. Live entertainment accompanies the art, highlighted by a performance from Santa Monica Ballet Folklorico on Saturday at 6 p.m. Get more info here.

Halloween Dance Party at 2nd & PCH -> Long Beach shopping destination 2nd & PCH hosts a kid-friendly Halloween dance party this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Expect games, dancing, a balloonist, airbrushed tattoos, crafting, costumed characters, photo ops, and more. Boonion Station -> This Saturday and Sunday, Union Station’s annual Halloween activation is back in-person with a two-day, family friendly event featuring trick-or-treat trail, hay maze, face painting, pumpkin decorating, and daily prizes for best costumes. Boo At The Zoo -> The L.A. Zoo’s annual Halloween transformation has daily attractions, but the real fun happens on weekends (including this Saturday and Sunday) when the zoo offers an assortment of family-friendly, seasonal activities, including trick-or-treating stations, open-air shows, animal pumpkin feedings, themed photo ops, and education stations. Entry is included with zoo admission, which starts at $22 for adults. More info here.

Día de los Muertos at Forest Lawn -> On Sunday, Forest Lawn hosts Día de los Muertos events at three locations through L.A. County on October 30. Each includes special altars plus traditional folklórico and mariachi music. All are free to attend. Get more info here.

Angel City Brewery Halloween -> This Sunday, Angel City Brewery bring their dog-friendly version of Halloween back with an afternoon affair featuring a doggie costume contest (and prizes!) plus a caricature artist. Free to attend. Runs noon to 6 p.m. More info here.

Dia de los Muertos Festival at MOLAA -> Sunday’s Dia de los Muertos Festival at the Museum of Latin American Art features performances by JD Dance Company, Ballet Folklórico Aztlán de CSUN, and Danza Azteca Xochipilli. The event runs 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is free to attend, however onsite parking will be $15 for the day. Get more info here.

Día de los Muertos Family Day at LA Plaza -> On Sunday, LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes hosts an afternoon of family-friendly activities to celebrate Día de los Muertos, including workshops for children, live performances, and a traditional altar dedicated to the deceased. Halloween at Disney Concert Hall -> Spend this Halloween Monday night at the Walt Disney Concert Hall features a screening of the 1920s silent classic The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari featuring a live accompaniment from organist Clark Wilson, who will soundtrack the film with the help of the Concert Hall’s booming 6,134 pipe organ. Guerrilla Tacos’ Halloween Comedy Event -> Guerrilla Tacos will host its third annual Halloween event on Monday, October 31. The restaurant will transform into a comedy club featuring a handful of stand up comedians, a costume contest for the public, spooky snacks and cocktails. Treat Trail at One Colorado -> Old Pasadena’s One Colorado hosts a free family-friendly Halloween activation this Monday that includes a treat trail for kids, photo ops, and a community screening of Ghostbusters in the courtyard. Events run from 4 to 8 p.m. Get more info here.

Free Ice Cream at Dear Bella on Halloween -> For the second year in a row, Dear Bella Creamery will offer a free scoop to costumed kids (12 and under) and/or a free “pup cone” for any costumed doggies on Halloween (that’s this Monday). The offer is good at Dear Bella’s Hollywood or Costa Mesa location. You just need to say “trick or treat” to unlock freebie.

Tower of Terror Party at Cabra -> Stephanie Izard’s Downtown restaurant Cabra hosts a rooftop party this Saturday, which includes cocktails courtesy of La Luna Mezcal, bar bites by Chef Stephanie Izard, tarot card readings from Sundown Tarot and tunes by DJ Nobody. Esters Spooky Cocktail Freebie on Halloween -> On Halloween, stop by Esters wearing a costume and enjoy a complimentary spooky cocktail with the purchase of food.

Halloween Freebies for Kids at NORMS Restaurants -> All NORMS locations across SoCal will offer kids that come dress up in costume a free entree. The offer is available for dine-in guests from October 29-31.
