Astronomy on Tap – M FA TP > Astronomy on Tap returns on Monday with a pair of scientific talks (helped along by trivia, live music, and beer) at Dog Haus Biergarten in Pasadena. The event is free and open to all ages. Runs 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. More info here.
Reel to Reel: FANNY: The Right to Rock – M > On Tuesday, The GRAMMY Museum hosts a screening of the new film FANNY: The Right to Rock, followed by an in-depth discussion with director Bobbi Jo Hart joined by members of the cast including June Millington, Jean Millington, Brie Darling, Alice de Buhr, and Patti Quatro. Jasen Emmons moderates the event, which runs from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $20. More info here.
Grand Views at Forest Lawn – FA TP > Forest Lawn Museum’s Grand Views: The Immersive World of Panoramas explores the history of panoramas through an array of artworks and artifacts, including never-before-seen paintings, prints and posters dating to the 19th century, archival photographs, and more. It’s free to visit Tuesday to Sunday, and the exhibition remains on view through September 10. More info here.
Wellness Wednesday at Latinx with Plants – M FA > As part of their Wellness Wednesday monthly series, Self-Help Graphics presents a sound bath and meditation session at Latinx with Plants in Boyle Heights. The experience will be led by healer Neil Belen, using crystal singing bowls, gongs and other instruments to guide guests through a peaceful journey of relaxation and focus. F$@% This Month –M > Can improv improve your crummy month? If you’re having a time of it this this May, stop by the Dynasty Typewriter on Wednesday for an evening of improvised skits based on tales of woe and misery. The Paramount Showcase – FA TP > Starting Thursday, a three-day pop-up comes to the Hollywood Athletic Club filled with interactive rooms, themed installations, and unique programming draw by Emmy-contending shows from the Paramount’s family of networks (shows like Yellowjackets, Star Trek: Picard, Yellowstone, George & Tammy, and more). Metro’s Bike Day – M FA > In honor of Bike Month, Metro is offering free rides this Thursday for commuters on all Metro buses and trains. There will also be a Metro Bike Share Bike to Work Day Celebration with complimentary food, coffee and swag for multimodal bike commuters from 8 to 11 a.m. at the North Hollywood B Line (Red) Station (Thursday) and Downtown Santa Monica E Line (Expo) Station (Friday). Flashback Retro Night Market – FA > A Retro Night Market pops up in the Arts District this Thursday featuring vendors selling all things retro from VHS tapes to vinyls, typewriters, clothing, and art. Admission and parking is free. Runs 7 to 11 p.m. More info here.
Bring the Noise: If These Walls Could Sing -> This Thursday, The Wallis and Film Independent team up for an evening of conversation and orchestral performances centered around Mary McCartney’s critically acclaimed Disney+ documentary film If These Walls Could Sing, which tells the history Abbey Road Studios, the artists who recorded there, and the songs that were made. Cinespia – M > Every summer, Angelenos pack a picnic basket and head to the Hollywood Forever Cemetery for screenings of films modern, cult, and classic. This year Cinespia has moved to L.A. Historic Park for a bigger and more spacious screening environment. This Friday, the series kicks off with a screening of Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. Electrify Expo – M > This three-day (Friday to Sunday) event at the Long Beach Convention Center showcases the latest in the world of electric vehicles, offering guests test drives on demo courses, special exhibits, a lineup of experts to chat with, and even a kids zone. Salsa Night at Ivy Station – M FA > Dance the night away with a free evening of salsa instruction and live music at Ivy Station this Friday. Instructor Pepe Gonzalez leads a half-hour intro lesson starting at 6:30 p.m., then the Fermín Sifontes Fusion Salsa Band plays an extended set from 7 to 8:45 p.m. Free and open to the public. Jazz at LACMA – FA > The Los Angeles County Museum of Art hosts free jazz concerts on Fridays at Scmidt Welcome Plaza. This week, catch a performance by Oscar Hernández & Alma Libre. Starts at 6 p.m. Seating is first-come, first-served. More info here.

Lemon Poppy Kitchen -> Glassell Park’s Lemon Poppy Kitchen recently revamped their space, including the some tweaks to the patio for full-service dining. New items have been added to the breakfast, lunch and dinner menus, and guests can stop in early evening to take advantage of happy hour (Monday through Friday from 3-6 p.m.) where wines and beers are $2 off and low avb cocktails are $9. This is also the only time to get their fantastic Plachintas ($10) a type of Romanian flatbread stuffed with feta and fresh dill. Continue the meal with a myriad of shareable plates from the dinner menu like the Crispy Pork Belly squares topped with a dollop of guac and pickled jalapenos or Fire Roasted Eggplant Taquitos. Larger format mains such as the Chicken Schnitzel and Bone-in Pork Chop with summer succotash are also real winners.
Melanie Burger Launch -> On Wednesday, Melanie Wine Bar will launch Melanie Burger, a day time lunch program offering a menu of smash burgers and fries daily from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Delectable burger creations include The Juicy Durrty, two patties topped with hand cut fries and loaded with pepperjack cheese. Pair your meal with a glass of vino, but if it’s too early, soda is also available.
Yappy Hour at Belles Beach House -> Every Thursday, Belles Beach House in Venice hosts a Yappy Hour welcoming guests and their dogs to the patio space. Happening between 4 to 7 p.m. the Hawaiian-inspired restaurant’s Golden Hour Menu will be available with $10 cocktails including tropical slushies and bites such as Crispy Rock Shrimp and Spicy Tuna Rolls that range $6 to $10.
