Astronomy On Tap – M FA > Astronomy on Tap returns on Monday with a pair of scientific talks (helped along by trivia, live music, and beer) at Dog Haus Biergarten in Pasadena. The event is free and open to all ages. Runs 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. More info here.
13th Annual Hollywood Fringe Festival -> Dozens of venues, including Zephyr Theatre, The Broadwater, and Three Clubs, host a huge slate of comedy, ensemble theatre, dance and immersive performances during the two and a half week run of the annual Hollywood Fringe Festival. LGBTQ Elders: Pride Party – FA TP > On Tuesday, all who consider themselves LGBTQ older adults, seniors, aged 50+, or elders are invited to a special Pride Party at the West Hollywood Park Library. Co-sponsored by WeHo Pride, the event is free to attend and centers around sharing stories of LGBTQ experiences and memories. Guests are invited to share their stories and LGBTQ poets from Pride Poets will transform the stories into unique poems. Food and beverages will be served and attendees will receive a gift bag sponsored by Friends of the West Hollywood Library, Junior Cookies, Hair by Fabian, Amy Smith Art, Atelier Zo, Stuzo Clothing, and more. Free Museum Tuesdays – FA TP > Every second Tuesday of the month, both the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and The Autry offer free admission to the general public.
The Music Center’s Love Amplified Poetry Jam – M FA TP >On Wednesday, The Music Center hosts Love Amplified Poetry Jam, a free public event in collaboration with Complexions Contemporary Ballet Co-Founder and Artistic Director Dwight Rhoden, Terrell “The Artist” Lewis and Tiffany Bong of UniverSOUL Hip Hop. The event kicks off with an outdoor screening of the short film Black is Beautiful on Jerry Moss Plaza followed by a poetry jam that includes spoken word, dance and music. More info here.
Mister Cartoon’s Just My Imagination – FA > The newest exhibition at Beyond The Streets flagship location (Control Gallery on 434 Fairfax) features the Los Angeles debut show for San Pedro-born tattoo and graffiti artist Mister Cartoon (a.k.a. Mark Machado). Cartoon’s Just My imagination includes new airbrushed paintings and graffiti’d works on paper, plus a vintage custom art car called, “The Gangster Squad.” The exhibition is free to visit Wednesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. More info here.
How Does a Community Save Itself? – M FA TP > This Thursday, Zócalo Public Square presents How Does a Community Save Itself?, a discussion with 2023 Zócalo Book Prize winner Michelle Wilde Anderson, who sits down sits down with Alberto Retana, president and CEO of South L.A.’s Community Coalition to discuss the challenges facing America’s high-poverty cities and solutions rooted in action by local residents. Free to attend. Starts at 7 p.m. A reception with complimentary bites follows the talk, plus the first 20 in-person attendees checking in will receive a free, signed copy of The Fight to Save the Town. Mighty Cool Pinot -> On Thursday, Santa Lucia Highlands Wine Artisans wine-centric road show makes a stop in Los Angeles at Neuehouse Hollywood. Guests are treated to wines from premier, limited-production wineries such as CRU Winery, Hahn Family Wines, Mer Soleil and Scheid Family Vineyards. American Contemporary Ballet Presents Concerto Barocco – M > Starting this Thursday, The Los Angeles American Contemporary Ballet’s latest production brings the choreography of George Balanchin to the the 28th floor of Two California Plaza, set to Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins in D Minor. Bloomsday 2023 – FA TP > The Hammer celebrates author James Joyce and his novel Ulysses with Bloomsday this Friday. The evening of entertainment includes a theatrical blend of staged readings and musical performances all centered around the author’s most iconic work. Performances are followed by festivities in the museum’s courtyard with more live music and Guinness on tap. Admission is free and the box office opens one hour before the event. Roaring Nights at the L.A. Zoo -> On Friday, The Los Angeles Zoo’s annual after-hours music series Roaring Nights returns for summer 2023 and this time it’s all about the 80’s. Come experience a party atmosphere featuring DJs, an era-appropriate cover band, silent disco, animal feedings, plus on-site food trucks. Tickets cost $25. More info here.
Trans Pride Los Angeles – M FA > The 2023 editionTrans Pride LA will be a two-day event, including a town hall this Friday evening followed by an afternoon festival on Saturday featuring live performances, special vendors, food, and educational workshops. Free to attend. Get more info here.
Complexions Contemporary Ballet – M > This Friday to Sunday, Complexions Contemporary Ballet returns to The Music Center, with stunning ballet performances featuring music from artists that include Kendrick Lamar, Logic, Drake and Lenny Kravitz. Tickets start at $34. More info here.

Crudo Guest Chef Series at Eataly’s Capri -> Eataly’s coastal Italian restaurant Capri is partnering with local chefs for single evening multi-course dinners centered around crudo. The series kicks off on Wednesday with Chef Brian Borneman of Cudo e Nudo. Chef David LeFevre and Chef de Cuisine Alice Mai of Fishing with Dynamite follow on June 21, and the series closes with Chef Jason Gonzales of Juliet on June 28. Tickets for each dinner cost $70 a person. More info here.
Maple Block Chicken -> Maple Block Meat Co. is expanding with a chicken operation called Maple Block Chicken. For the project, chef-owner Daniel Weinstock and Maple Block’s pitmaster Rudy Suazo has mapped out a menu entirely focused on spatchcock chickens grilled over coals. Chicken is available in quarter, half, and whole served with a basket of fries and sides, recently they also introduced wraps stuffed with chopped juicy chicken and greens. The brand launched at Smorgasburg back in April with a huge turn out, currently they’re popping up at farmers markets in Brentwood and on Miracle Mile for takeout with plans for a brick-and-mortar sometime this year.
Saltie Girl Rosé and Oyster Promo -> For the month of June, guests who stop in to Saltie Girl on Fridays during lunch service can score a complimentary half-dozen oysters served with the special mignonette made with Brightland’s red wine vinegar, TRELLIS with the purchase of a bottle of Saltie Girl Rosé.

Transylvania-inspired Pop-Up at Lemon Poppy Kitchen -> On Saturday, Lemon Poppy Kitchen will host a unique Transylvanian pop-up called Sour Cherry. The concept is the brainchild of Lemon Poppy Kitchen Chef and Co-owner, Anca Caliman and Chef Eden Batki (formerly of Elf Cafe and Dune Kitchen). Inspired by their recent culinary exploration of Transylvania, the duo will showcase a five-course prix fixe menu that ties in their Romanian and Hungarian roots. Guests can expect an elaborate grazing board, a sour fermented barley soup to a Romanian casserole called Varza a la Cluj. Reservations can be made between 5-10 p.m. for $100 per person.
