19 Cool L.A. Events in November Every Angeleno Should Keep on Their Radar [2015]

We looked ahead on our calendar to spotlight some of the best events happening in November 2015 around Los Angeles that you should probably have on your radar. After all, better to get your tickets now than wait till the last minute and find out your favorite event is sold out.

November highlights include the opening of Rain Room at LACMA, the AFI Film Fest, The LA Auto Show, The Great Walk Los Angeles, plus the Lakers and Clippers are back at Staples.

1. VegFest (Nov. 1)

The First Annual SoCal VegFest is a free event designed to spark curiosity and inspire consciousness in people of all ages looking to make a difference. Includes free plant-based food samplings, musical entertainment, guest speakers, cooking demons, raffles, interactive booths, food vendors, humane organizations, a yoga tent, a children’s area with a variety of engaging opportunities and much more.

2. Rain Room (Opens Nov. 1)

The “Rain Room” is the work of London-based art collective Random International and, more or less, allows exhibit goers to walk through a rain storm and experience all of the effects but without getting wet. Coming to LACMA starting on November 1, with tickets now on sale.

3. Day of the Dead Celebrations (Nov. 1)

Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is kind of a big deal in Los Angeles, and while a number of the celebrations take place in October the majority of the biggies fall on Sunday, November 1.

4. A Movie Screening Fundraiser to Save Angels Flights (Nov. 5)

On November 5 the Angels Flights Foundation is throwing a fundraiser / movie screening of the 1951 Film Noir classic “M” at the Million Dollar Theater in downtown L.A.

5. AFI Film Festival (Nov. 5-12)

AFI’s annual week-long celebration of international cinema features both modern masters and emerging filmmakers takes place from November 5-12, 2015.

6. NKLA Super Adoption Weekend (Nov. 7-8)

Feeling like it’s time to add a new member to your pack? The folks at No-Kill Los Angeles are hosting a massive adoption event at the La Brea Tar Pits with over over 1,000 dogs, cats, puppies and kittens  available, many with adoption fees as low as $50.

7. Inglewood Open Studios (Nov 14-15)

The 9th Annual Inglewood Open Studios is essentially a giant, self-guided art walk that takes over the city of Inglewood during the second weekend of November each year. This year already has a slate of over three dozen confirmed artists, and a map of the walk should be posted soon. Check the official event website for more info and updates.

8. The New Girl Expo (Nov. 14)

The New Girl Expo posits itself as a a seasonal one-stop-shop for all things fashion, beauty, and everything else you’d need for a head-to-toe makeover. The Winter, 2015 edition is scheduled to hit The Reef in Downtown L.A. on Nov 14. Grab some discount tickets and get more information via our friends at Goldstar.

9. Barnsdall Park Art Sale Fundraiser (Nov. 15)

The Barnsdall Art Center Holiday Art Sale + Fundraiser returns for a 4th annual event featuring work by students & faculty at The Barnsdall Art Center including prints, ceramics, and jewelry, to handcrafted cards and photography, and tons of other handmade art work. The sale is free to attend, with food & drink tickets available to purchase pre-sale. Proceeds benefit scholarships, programming, and supplies for children and adults at Barnsdall Art Center.

10. UCLA Game Arts Festival (Nov. 18)

An evening of innovative gaming and art where guests can participate in board and card game tournaments while enjoying live music, refreshments, and game-inspired artworks… all for FREE at the Hammer Museum courtyard.

11. Great Walk Los Angeles (Nov. 21)

Who says nobody walks in L.A.? For the 10th year in a row this massive, annual community walk will take place on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, with this year’s edition set to tackle Olympic Blvd, from downtown to the ocean.

12. 3rd Annual Stouts and Staches (Nov. 21)

Stouts and Staches brings the local Venice Beach community together in a street fest that takes over Winward Ave for a day, all in an effort to raise funds and awareness for the Movember Foundation while celebrating the unique history and culture of the mustache.

13. Designer Con (Nov. 21-22)

The Designer Con is an annual art and design convention showcasing collectible toys and designer goods with urban, underground and pop art inspired themes. You can even come comfy in your PJ’s for their pajama party- no sleepover’s though.

14. 25th Annual Mariachi Festival (Nov. 22)

Held at Mariachi Plaza in Boyle Heights, The 25th Annual Mariachi Festival is a day-long musical program and community fair celebrating the heritage of the Mariachi culture.

15. LA Auto Show  (Nov. 20-29)

One of the largest and most influential auto shows in the world returns to the Los Angeles Convention Center on November 20-29.

16. Hollywood Christmas Parade (Nov. 29)

The 84th Annual Hollywood Christmas Parade begins at 5:00pm on the final Sunday in November. The U-shaped parade route starts on Hollywood Blvd at Orange, then heads east to Vine, south on Vine to Sunset Boulevard and finally west on Sunset, back to Orange. Even if you’re not attending, mind the traffic closures for that day!

17. Red Bull Sound Select: 30 Days in LA (various)

For the entire month of November Red Bull is sponsoring a slew of concerts all over Los Angeles at venues both big and small, with some 60 musical artists scheduled to perform.

18. Grand Performance Fall Movie Screenings (various)

The folks at Grand Performances are hosting a free fall movie screenings series that extends in to November. Screenings happen at 7:00pm in California Plaza and are FREE, though an RSVP is required. For Thursday, November 5 the movie will be The Artist and for Thursday, November 12 the film will be 500 Days of Summer.

19. Lakers and Clippers  Basketball Returns (various)

Lakers fan? Clippers fan? It matters not. All that matters is that the NBA is back in full swing in November, which means you’ve got plenty of chances to head over to Staples Center to watch live hoops at the highest level.
