Free Things To Do in L.A. for the Next 40 Days [August 2024 edition]

An afternoon at Echo Park Lake. Photo by Brian Champlin

School is back in session, but that doesn’t mean that fun time is over. On the contrary, the doorstep to fall offers up some of the best that Los Angeles event programming has to offer. But to capture it all (or at least a sizable slice of it), we’re changing things up with our monthly freebie rundowns.

Don’t worry, we’re still pointing the way to dozens of free events, but in the interest of keeping it organized we’re breaking things down this time. We’ll start with a mega list of free music and concerts, followed by a snapshot of the best upcoming arts and culture happenings, then some free movies and screenings to add to the mix, and to cap things off an eclectic mix of educational events and workshops. Basically, something for everyone!

And of course per usual we’ll dial you into how to get to each event by Metro (which you can for almost all) so you have the option to skip traffic troubles and omit the head pains of parking. Now, about that list…
