Car culture may still dominate Los Angeles, but that doesn’t mean it will forever. CicLAvia gives us a picture of what the city might look like if we favor movement powered by people, instead of engines. How? Through a series of one-day events that close city streets and roadways to vehicular traffic, and create car-free courses for residents to walk, bike, or skate to their heart’s content, all while getting a unique viewpoint of some of L.A.’s most distinct neighborhoods.
Example: Today’s event (April 6, 2025) connects Koreatown to Hollywood with a 4.75 mile route that includes multiple activity hubs, and is accessible by several stops along Metro’s B and D lines. And if you miss today’s event, don’t worry. There are six more CicLAvias popping up in 2025, including stops in Watts, Culver City, San Pedro, and Downtown Los Angeles.
Who Might Enjoy This?
- Public transit riders / enthusiasts.
- Those looking for an excuse to get outside and explore a neighborhood in a new way.
- Anyone who prefers pedaling, skating or walking over driving.
When: Times are event dependent, but most events take place on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Locations are always changing. Next up: Koreatown Meets Hollywood on April 6, 2025.
