March highlights include free concerts at Union Station, a free museum day sponsored by Smithsonian, a spooky screening at Griffith Park’s abandoned zoo, a kite festival, a vegan food fair, CicLAvia in The Valley, and much more.

1. Planned Parenthood Food Fare (March 3)
Food Fare is returning to Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar on Thursday, March 3, 2016 and with it comes some of the top people in the food and beverage industry.Highly anticipated by food lovers Food Fare offers guests the opportunity to sample gourmet food and drink from over 100 Los Angeles based restaurants, food and drink purveyors. Proceeds benefits the healthcare and education initiatives of Planned Parenthood Los Angeles through its 20 health centers throughout L.A. County.
2. Natural History Museum First First Fridays (March 4)
Party at The Natural History Museum after-hours, go on guided tours, enjoy scientist led discussions, mingle at the DJ Lounge and rock out to your favorite bands at NHM’s First Fridays. The March 4 installment includes a “Stranger than Fiction!” tour of the museum along with musical performances by Lower Dens and Gardens of Villa.
3. Drag Extravaganza Le Bal (March 4)
Candis Cayne from “I Am Cait” on E! will be hosting the second installment of “Le Bal” at Ace Hotel in DTLA on Friday, March 4 with special performances by RuPaul’s Drag Race superstars Raja, Detox, Delta Work, Trixie Mattel and Miss Coco Peru.
4. Music For Train Stations (March 4-25, Every Friday)
Every Friday this March L.A.’s most majestic transit hub, Union Station, will be teaming up with musical curators at dublab to create a month-long sound series called Music For Train Stations.
5. Los Angeles Lantern Festival (March 5)
The 15th Annual Los Angeles Lantern Festival will mark the close of the Chinese New Year’s festivities with a free event including engaging community booths, museum tours, live entertainment, music, arts & crafts, and food trucks. Takes place starting at noon at El Pueblo Historical Monument.

6. Serial Podcast Creators Live Talk (March 5)
Serial podcast creators Sarah Koening and Julie Snyder are hosting an event called Binge-Worthy Journalism at The Valley Performing Arts Center that will take an audience behind-the-scenes of the pod, the story creation process, and ultimately open up the forum for audience members to ask questions.
7. Champagne Runch (March 6)
Brunch plus a 5k? Sure why not. The first-ever Champagne Runch event, to be held at The Queen Mary Events Park in Long Beach on March 6, will offer registrants a scenic early morning run around Shoreline Park followed by an epic brunch meal for all to partake in.
8. CicLAvia Returns to The Valley (March 6)
CicLAvia returns to The San Fernando Valley for the second time for a massive public event that will let both cyclists and pedestrians explore the streets of Pacoima, Arleta, North Hills East, and Panorama City.
9. Heidi Fleiss Feast (March 6)
Los Angeles Eats Itself is a dinner series where cuisine and LA noire collide through collaborations between L.A. chefs and visual artists bringing to life some of the most infamous stories in Los Angeles history. The next series will take place on March 6 with the Fleiss Feast, a night highlighting the most powerful Hollywood Madam of the last century. The meal will consist of six courses featuring experimental recipes from aphrodisiac laced edibles.
10. All-Star Chef Classic at LA Live (March 9-12)
The only food event of its kind, All-Star Chef Classic returns for its third year to L.A. LIVE, March 9-12, for a four-day culinary experience showcasing some of the most well-respected and award-winning chefs from around the globe.
11. Poltergeist Screening at Abandoned Zoo in Griffith Park (March 11)
The team behind the Great Horror Movie Nights (same folks who do Great Horror Campouts and the Haunted Hayrides) are hosting a spooky screening series beginning this March, and then continuing on once a month into May, all hosted at the Old Zoo in Griffith Park. The first screening, held on Friday, March 11th will feature the classic horror film Poltergeist.
12. Paleyfest Los Angeles (March 11-20)
The Paleyfest is a unique opportunity to see the stars and creators of your favorite television shows live, in person, at panel discussions and Q&A’s at the Dolby Theater over the course of this ten-day event.

13. Museum Day Live! (March 12)
Museum Day Live! is an annual event hosted by Smithsonian magazine in which participating museums across the country offer free admission to any and all guests presenting a Museum Day Live! voucher. In the Los Angeles area the event will include free admission to seven area museums.
14. Santa Anita Big ‘Cap Beer & Cider Fest (March 12)
Sample craft beers and cider, grab a bite from some of the best local food trucks and watch the race from the sidelines during Santa Anita Park’s Big ‘Cap Beer & Cider Festival.
15. Descanso Gardens Cherry Blossom Festival (March 12-13)
Head over to La Canada Flintridge in March for a two-day festival at Descanso Gardens celebrating Japanese culture and the spring bloom of the cherry blossoms.
16. Redondo Beach Kite Festival (March 13)
One of the longest running kite festivals in SoCal returns to Redondo Beach on Sunday March 13 for a day free family fun.
17. J. Gold Fundraiser (March 14)
Pulitzer Prize-winning food critic Jonathan Gold will join local non-profit C-CAP LA at their upcoming fundraiser on March 14 for a screening of City of Gold, a documentary that details Gold’s journey through Los Angeles’ cultural culinary scene. The screening will be preceded by a reception featuring food from some of Gold’s favorite area eateries.
18. Kids Krazy Kraft Day (March 19)
This unique, family-friendly event at the International Printing Museum is perfect for kids who love to draw. Demos and pop-up activities will cover topics including cartooning, calligraphy, card printing, silk screening, and papermaking. $12 for adults. $10 for students and seniors.
19. Vegan Street Fair (March 20)
The Vegan Street Fair hits the streets of North Hollywood on March 20 is an annual featuring tons vegan-friendly restaurants and vendors joined together serving customers bite size portions of their best offerings. Entry is free and all food items portions are $3 max. VIP tasting package also available for $40.
20. Wonder Con (March 25-27)
Three days jam-packed with Q&As, premiere screenings, special guests, signings and an onstage Masquerade competition all at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
