Posted by Last July an anonymous artists collective built a small structure on an old concrete foundation near Mt. Bell using reclaimed wood from the historic 2007 fire in Griffith Park. In short order the newly erected installation, which became known as the Griffith Park Teahouse, captured the imaginations of Angelenos, as well as the attention of city officials.
While the teahouse was ultimately removed from its location in the park due to it’s illegal construction, it was saved by the city (after many signed a petition) with the promise it would reinstalled at different, and properly permitted, location.

Now, that promise is being kept.
According to the LA Times, as of Monday the Griffith Park Teahouse has found a new temporary home at Knoll Hill in San Pedro, with scenic view overlooking Vincent Thomas Bridge.

This Saturday there will be a public event to welcome for the Griffith Park Teahouse at the park hosted with support from San Pedro’s Machine Community Studios. The event kicks off at 4:00pm and features a special sunset concert by the California Feetwarmers from 5:00pm to 6:00pm.
A closing tea ceremony will take place on March 20 at 4:00pm with a performance by a violinist from the Golden State Pops Orchestra.
