[ANNOUNCEMENT: New hike scheduled for January 31, 2015 if you’d like to join. Details here!]
A perfectly overcast morning provided the crisp backdrop to Saturday’s 3-mile group journey to the perch above the Hollywood Sign. But despite weather that couldn’t have been better for hiking, I couldn’t shake the feeling some folks were worried it was so damn foggy it would ruin the view when we reached the summit.

And sure enough when we got to the top of Mt. Lee and stared out on the landscape to the south we couldn’t see one building or street or even a rocky outcrop more than a few hundred feet away from the sign. But instead of disappointment, I gathered what most of us were feeling in that moment was absolute amazement.
If L.A. is the city of angels, then what we had the fortune to take in with our eyes was the pillowy bed of clouds where the heavenly beings lay their heads to rest. A rare sight indeed.
It was awesome and alien and totally unexpected. But maybe I should let the images do the talking for me.
Check out a rundown of some of the best pics from the hike that I’ve embedded below, and of course if you’re keen on joining us for future hikes or want other local events to keep on your radar, you should definitely sign up to be on our email list so you can stay in the know. 🙂
Pics starts after the jump.
The hike started out Walking Dead style.
Instead of Los Angeles, what we saw looked like some alien planet that Luke Skywalker might be training on.
Fog definitely not dampening any spirits though.
A steady incline provides a nice little workout for the group.
And of course we made it!
What an eerie view.
That fog tho…
Everyone getting their hero shots.
Obligatory group photo.
By the time we started down the trail the fog was beginning to burn off and the selfie opportunities were boundless.
Christina and I in the stretch run coming down the trail. Tired, but totally worth it.
Thanks again to everyone to who showed up. Hope to see you next time!
