January 2017 event highlights include the 2017 LA Art Show, a ‘No Pants Metro Ride’, the Riot LA Comedy Festival, Night on Broadway, and a huge museum free-for-all day on the final Sunday of the month.

1. FREE Open House & Workshops at Second City Hollywood (Jan. 7)
On January 7 Second City Hollywood will host an entire day of workshops and shows. The best part? This event is free and open to all ages.
2. Los Angeles Comic Book & Science Fiction Convention in DTLA (Jan. 7-8)
The Los Angeles Comic Book and Science Fiction Convention is back, and celebrating its 40th anniversary. Hosted at The Reef in DTLA on January 7 and 8, this popular event will house exhibits, special guests and collectibles galore. Special guests include Walking Dead actors Sonequa Martin-Green and Khary Payton, Marvel and DC Comics artist George Perez, Ruben Procopio (artist for Batman ’66) and even more artists, animators and celebrities.
3. No Pants Metro Ride (Jan. 8)
Ready to join hundreds of fellow angelenos in annual excursion to ride our city’s public transit system… sans pants? Your Sunday afternoon Expo Line trip suddenly got a lot more interesting.
4. Indulge L.A.’s Chocolate Festival & Pastry Show at the Omni Hotel (Jan. 8)
The LA Chocolate Festival & Pastry Show comes to the Omni Hotel in DTLA on January 8th. Some of the best chocolatiers and pastry chefs in Los Angeles will offer confectionery treats to be paired with the world’s top champagnes, wines and spirits.

5. 2017 LA Art Show at the Los Angeles Convention Center (Jan. 11-15)
Feast your eyes on some amazing art collections from all over the world! The 2017 LA Art Show comes to the Los Angeles Convention Center from January 11th through January 15 for their annual civic celebration of the visual arts.
6. The 26th Annual Photo LA Fair at The REEF (Jan. 13)
In need of some visual inspiration? Look no further than Photo LA. Returning to The REEF/LA Mart for its 26th edition, this photographic exhibition celebrates photography and how it fits within the realm of fine art.

7. Anime Impulse at the Asian American Expo at the Fairplex (Jan. 15)
Fusing the world of anime and video games, Anime Impulse will include celebrity appearances, artist alleys, Kawaii fashion and cosplay.
8. 2017 Indie Beauty Expo Comes to Downtown LA (Jan. 17-19)
The Indie Beauty Expo is coming to DTLA’s California Market Center from January 17 through 19. This one-of-a-kind expo allows shoppers to discover the newest and freshest under-the-radar beauty brands. From cosmetics and skin needs to hair and nail care, a vast variety of brands will be represented.
9. The Riot LA Comedy Festival Returns to DTLA (Jan. 19-22)
This year’s Riot LA line-up features Ali Wong, Dr. Katz, Felipe Esparza & a live chat with Mel Brooks followed by a screening of Blazing Saddles.
10. The Pancakes & Booze Art Show in DTLA’s Arts District (Jan. 20-21)
The Pancakes & Booze Art Show returns to Lot 613 in Los Angeles on January 20 and January 21 for an art exhibition offering a delectable mix of booze, flapjacks, and work from local artists.
11. Uncorked: L.A. Wine Festival at Union Station (Jan. 21)
Uncorked: L.A. comes to Union Station in DTLA on Jan. 21 for a truly legendary wine experience. With tastings of more than 150 wines, a champagne bar, and gourmet food trucks, why not indulge a little!
12. The Night of Ideas at Bergamot Station (Jan. 26)
This modern-day salon will explore past, present & future utopias throughout the 32 art galleries within Bergamot Station.

13. Art Los Angeles Contemporary’s 8th Annual Art Fair at Barker Hangar (Jan. 26-29)
This Santa Monica art fair features galleries from around the world and incorporates talks, presentations & performances by various artists.

14. The Inaugural Classic Auto Show Comes to the LA Convention Center (Jan. 27-29)
The three-day celebration of all things auto will showcase the best classic and vintage cars from all over the world. Highlights include a celebrity theater, car “catwalk,” classic car clubs, and an auto swap meet.

15. stARTup Art Fair at Highland Gardens Hotel in Hollywood (Jan. 27-29)
The stARTup Art Fair comes to the Highland Gardens Hotel in Hollywood January 27 through 29 with a unique selection of art made by 39 artists from all over the country.
16. MORE ART HERE: Open Studios at Santa Monica Art Studios (Jan. 27-29)
This free event will feature over 25 artists as they open their studios to the public & allow attendees to interact, speak with & watch the artists at work.
17. L.A. Beer & Food Festival at Mack Sennett Studios in Silver Lake (Jan. 28)
The L.A. Beer & Food Festival comes to historic Mack Sennett Studios in Silver Lake on Jan. 28 with a sampling of beers from more than 40 independently-owned brewers from around Los Angeles County. With unlimited tastings of more than 100 beers, and free snacks from some incredible local restaurants on the table.
18. The San Gabriel Lunar New Year Festival (Jan. 28)
Ring in the year of the Fire Rooster at the 3rd annual San Gabriel Lunar New Year Festival. On Saturday, Jan. 28 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., guests can visit San Gabriel’s historic Mission District for New Year celebrations including a street food fair and dance competition.
19. Night on Broadway (Jan. 28)
DTLA’s biggest block(s) party is back! Night on Broadway returns on Jan. 28, 2017 and is set to feature hundreds of performers and acts spread over seven city blocks, six historic venues, and eight separate stages. Last year the event drew an estimated 60,000 attendees.
20. The Pickwick Vintage Show Returns to Burbank (Jan. 29)
This pop-up shop will feature over 65 exhibitors with collections of vintage clothing, jewelry, accessories, textiles and other unique finds.
21. SoCal Museum Free-For-All Day (Jan. 29)
On the last Sunday in January over 30 museums will offer free admission at locations spread throughout the greater Southern California area. Participants for this year include many locations that are not normally free such as the Natural History Museum, LACMA, MOCA, and Descanso Gardens, along with museums that regularly offer free admission such as both Getty campuses, The Natural History Museum, and The Broad.
