Holy exploding Christmas batman!
According to the videographer, the below footage of an exploded palm tree was captured near Mansfield Avenue & Venice Boulevard in Mid-City as a palm tree was ignited by high-tension power lines which had been blown over by high gusting winds (which caused damage and outages all over Los Angeles). The fire was reported around 3am on Christmas morning.

Because of the nature of the power lines, the LAFD was unable to put water directly on the flames, and first had to request the Department of Water & Power shutdown the lines. Ultimately, the LAist reports the fire was put out the flames in about 20 minutes and no one was hurt (thankfully!)
But damn that’s one hell of a video.
