L.A. Resturants that Made Yelp’s 100 Places to Eat in the U.S.
Yelp recently released their Top 100 Places to Eat in the U.S. list with over 35 restaurants in California and 11 in the L.A. County on the list. The data science team from Yelp calculated the list by factoring in both ratings and the total number of reviews. See who made the list in L.A. here.

New Happy Hour Alert
Hayden in Culver City just launched a Golden Hour from 5 to 7 p.m. daily, featuring $1.50 oysters, $6 aperitivo, and select $8 wines, and $3 beers.
Deep dish pizza spot Blackbird Pizza Shop, offers daily happy hour specials from 4 to 6 p.m. and all day Monday. Diners can enjoy a personal deep dish pie and a PBR Tall Boy can for just $12 and $2 off local draft beer, $1 off 40+ craft beer cans, and $5 select wines by the glass.
Cocktail bar Sam First rolled out a new happy hour Monday through Friday from 4:30p.m. to 7 p.m. featuring $8 Old Fashioned, $8 margaritas, $10 shot & a beer, and $6 house wines.

Union in Pasadena Turns Four
On March 14, Bruce Kalman and Marie Petulla’s critically acclaimed Northern Italian restaurant UNION turns four. The “Farm & Field” dinner will highlight the purveyors and patrons that have been there since day one. The evening will feature a four-course dinner created by Chef Kalman, which will feature
Pasadena’s local miller, Grist & Toll; sustainable butchery from Flannery Beef and seafood from his Dock to Dish program; Pomona’s favorite cheese mongers, DiStefano Cheese and Tehachapi’s very own family owned and operated Weiser Family Farms. Dinner takes place at 6 p.m. and the meal cost $175 with wine pairing per person.

Baldoria Launches a Month Pizza Making Class and New Beer Special
Starting on March 6, Baldoria will launch Tart N’ Tasty Tuesdays where diners get 30% off all sour beers on the menu. There will also be a suggested sour beer and food pairing each week. In addition, the Little Tokyo eatery will host monthly pizza making classes starting Sunday, March 11 and offered every second Sunday every month at 6 p.m. for $30 per person. Guests will make their very own pizza and receive a complimentary glass of beer or wine.

Italian Wine Dinner at Officine BRERA
Officine BRERA will be hosting an “Uncorked Italy” wine dinner on Tuesday, March 13 from 7 to 10 p.m. where the Factory Place Hospitality Group’s sommelier, Francine Diamond-Ferdinandi will guide guests through 13 tastings, followed by a four-course dinner with pairings. Guests will dine on off-menu dishes such as Pisarei Delle a duckling sugo, a Carnaroli Risotto Mantecato with a spit roasted California quail and chestnut semifreddo. The event cost $145 per person and reservations can be made online from now until Wednesday, March 7.

It’s National Pancake Day this Tuesday and IHOP will give away one free short stack to every guests from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. while raising money for local children’s hospital and health organizations for every stack served.
Dine Out Long Beach Restaurant Week 2.0 will host specially priced prix fixe lunches and dinners at some of the city’s best restaurants. From February 25 through March 3, dozens of Long Beach restaurants will offer two-course brunch and lunch menus for $10, 15, or $20 per person, and three-course dinners for $20, $30, $40 and $50 per person.
Down some tacos, drink some locally brewed beers and test your trivia skills this Tuesday during Tacos & Trivia night at Angel City Brewery in DTLA.

The 5th Annual Los Angeles IPA Festival returns to Mohawk Bend in Echo Park on March 3-4 tapping 60 IPAs this weekend, all made by Golden State breweries.
Pasadena’s beautiful Storrier Stearns Garden is hosting A Taste of Japan dinner and fundraiser where guests will sample delicious treats from various food and drink stations. Savor Okonomi-yaki provided by Otafuku Foods, Japanese dishes from The Kitchen for Exploring Foods, and creative onigiri will be available. The new menu from Daniel Humm and executive chef Chris Flint offers a breakfast Burrito with suckling pig, Avocado Toast as well as baked goods from executive pastry chef Mark Welker. If you love a good Bloody Mary NoMad has variations from bar director Leo Robitschek that includes the Bloody Bull with tomato, veal jus, lemon & horseradish; and the Sherry with amontillado sherry, tomato, beets & hot peppers. Brunch is served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

The Tongo Hut in North Hollywood is hosting the ultimate tiki party in honor of an amazing 60 years in service! From 2 to 10 p.m., Mai Tai-lovers will have a chance to celebrate with live music, drinks and shopping. Highlights include Tonga Tom spinning tunes outside, Durango’s Tacos, an art show, and a chance to create art based on a Tikiyaki song. Entrance to the event is free, but drinks and food are available for purchase.
The second annual Sweet Experience Expo returns to the South Bay with a dessert and pastry expo featuring hundreds of local dessert and pastry chefs showcasing their offerings and serving up samples.
