Looking for the best way to start your summer? Check out an awesome free concert experiences in Los Angeles where music lovers can dine, drink, and shop all in one downtown L.A. location.
This June the FIGat7th Downtown Festival (aka FIGFest) celebrates its sixth year with an incredible lineup of performers. Presented by Arts Brookfield, the festival kicks off June 1 and runs four consecutive Friday nights at Downtown L.A.’s premier shopping destination, FIGat7th.
This year, Spaceland Presents, L.A.’s leading concert promotion firm, has collaborated with Arts Brookfield to curate the lineup. The outdoor plaza at FIGat7th will be transformed into an urban concert venue and dance floor brought to life with performances by leading R&B, hip-hop, pop, soul, dance, and electronic artists.
Kicking off the festival June 1 is Poolside, the dreamy “Daytime Disco” project of California duo, Filip Nikolic and Jeffrey Paradise.
June 8 brings an electric performance by fresh-from-Coachella, sexy New York R&B duo, Lion Babe. Their sound is seductive and eclectic, promoting messages of empowerment supported by clanging percussion, a thumping synth bass, and notes of soul, dance, hip-hop and pop.
On June 15, Gabriel Garzón-Montano takes the stage with layer upon layer of his characteristically thoughtful, sultry, saturated soundscapes that oscillate between new soul, electronic, funk and R&B.
The festival closes with the indie-pop-punk a yet-to-be-announced act, bringing their bold, raw, stumbling-through-life synergy to the FIGFest stage. See them crank it up a notch on June 22 when they are joined by the LA-based funk-rock ensemble, Thumpasaurus.
Each Friday event will begin with a beer garden and games starting at 5 p.m., a DJ set at 6 p.m., an opening performer at 7 p.m., and the headliner on stage at 8 p.m. A second DJ set will close each evening at 9 p.m.
As always, FIGFest is free and open to the public as part of Arts Brookfield’s continued effort to bring Brookfield Properties’ public spaces to life through music, film, interactive experiences, and visual arts.
Attendees can find $5 parking with validation after 4 p.m. at the FIGat7th parking structure, located at 735 S. Figueroa Street.
