Escape rooms are all the rage these days, and I’ve been seriously interested for awhile now in getting a team together comprised of We Like L.A. community members to try out one of these local attractions as a group.

As luck would have it, the folks over at The Exit Game (an escape room based in Monterey Park) contacted me out of the blue a few weeks back about trying out one of their missions for free. Frankly, it was exactly the opportunity I’d been looking for.
Now all I need to do is select a team of crack operatives to accompany me on this adventure… (this means YOU!).
Check it.
The Mission: We are forming a We Like L.A. special-ops team that will be tasked with a covert operation to search for an alien in a government lab. According to the creators of The Exit Game, “Each mission contains a series of rooms that is part of the larger maze in a themed, unique, and fully immersed atmosphere using Hollywood-grade props. Be prepared to be visually stimulated and mentally challenged at every step of the way. It’s a thrilling race against time.”
So yeah, basically, it’s going to be loads of fun… and for our group, FREE!
The Team: Our team will have 6 members total. I (Brian) will be your team leader, but we have 5 more slots to fill to comprise the rest of our team. As I stated before, members will be part our group to play The Exit Game in May at NO COST.
See guidelines below on how to apply to be part of the team.
When: May 19th at The Exit Game 111 N Atlantic Blvd #148, Monterey Park, CA 91754. We’ll meet at 8pm to get situated and sign our waivers, then the mission starts at 8:30pm (lasts for about 1 hour).
How to Apply: We’re going to make this merit-based (no random drawing here), and also pretty simple. Just comment below about why YOU should be selected to join our team. The 5 most compelling comments (pretty much judged by me and Christina) will be added.
Honestly, I’m a pretty competitive dude, so if I’m going to play The Exit Game, I want to win! That said in your ‘application comment’ let us know about why we should select you to join the squad. List any special skills (martial arts background, military training, innate ability to solve New York Times crossword puzzles, etc…) in your comment and what you think you bring to the team. Tell us about your problem solving abilities, previous escape room experience, or anything else that might be relevant. Humor and wit are also looked upon favorably. 😉
ALSO, remember you must drop your name in our email list below so we can contact you if you’re selected. This is key! Also make sure that the name you enter in our email list matches the name you’re commenting under… also key!
The deadline to comment will be 11:59pm on April 29. Winners will be announced on May 1. If we contact you to inform of selection, you’ll have 24 hours to reply, otherwise your spot may go to someone else.
Keep in mind as part of our email program, you’ll receive twice weekly updates on things to do in L.A. (Monday and Thursday mornings) plus special offers for giveaways just like this. And we always respect your privacy and will never share your email.
Basically, if you haven’t already signed up, there’s lots good reasons 🙂
The creators of The Exit Game would also like us to note that nothing will be allowed into the the games (cell phones, wallets, screwdrivers etc.) The group will be scanned for such things. We suggest that everyone leaves them in the car. Car keys will be the only thing allowed inside. Everything you will need is already provided inside the games for you. Everyone will be required to sign a waiver of liability on the day of in order to participate.

Now let the applications begin!
