Friday November 16th, 2018
1. Chinese Lantern Festival (November 15-18) is a huge showcase of over 1,000 handcrafted lanterns put up together to create a beautiful display of color and light at the Pomona Fairplex. Check for discounted tickets before making your purchase. DISCOUNTED (via Goldstar)
2. The Los Angeles Arboretum and Botanic Garden presents Moonlight Forest, where crafted lanterns line the garden grounds, some depicting animals, shimmering exotic flowers, and figures from Chinese legends. 3. The Bai Holiday Ice Rink returns to Pershing Square from Nov. 15, 2018 to Jan. 21, 2019 featuring a 7200 square foot outdoor ice-skating experience. A wide variety of events will take place throughout the duration of the rink, including the Icebreaker Opening Celebration this Thursday with live performances and more.
4. Bestselling author David Sedaris will be reading unpublished newly written work at Royce Hall this Friday. An annual tradition for Sedaris and UCLA, the author’s first reading at the university took place in 1998, making this his 20th anniversary visit.
5. Fans of toys and artistic design will find something to love at this year’s DesignerCon, taking place from Nov. 16 – 18 at the Anaheim Convention Center. The event sees a wide array of collectible designer apparel, customs, toys, and more for participants to explore and shop.
6. Beautycon is offering a pop up expereince titled Beautycon POP from Nov. 16 through Dec. 16 featuring immersive galleries, makeup brands, vendors, a salon and other beauty related activities.
7. Head down to the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts for an immersive theatre experience titled The Bitter Game. Written and performed by Keith A. Wallace the play touches on themes of race and police brutality in America and is put on in an unconventional setting on The Wallis’ Promenade Terrace. After the show, a discussion will be held on the nature and themes of the story and its base in reality. Performing until November 17.
8. Party With is Los Angeles’ new Instagram-ready experience. Opening it’s doors on Friday Nov. 16 in Westfield Santa Anita Mall, folks can expect 15 premium photogenic installations like an infinity rainbow and a room filled with sparkling disco balls. Party With runs through January 27 and is open Thursdays through Sundays.
9. One of L.A.’s most magical holiday traditions, L.A. Zoo Lights returns November 16, 2018 through January 6, 2019 with thousands upon thousands of LED lights illuminating the zoo. Check for discounted tickets before making your purchase. DISCOUNTED (via Goldstar)

10. 260LA will host a 3.1 Phillip Lim sample sale from Nov. 13-18 in their Beverly Hills location.
11. The Whiskey Extravaganza will have you sampling over 100 of the world’s best whiskies straight up or in craft cocktails along with whisky inspired bites. For those really serious about whiskey there will be curated masterclasses to sit in on too.

13. A Conversation with Lin-Manuel Miranda and Luis A. Miranda Jr. will take place at The Geffen Playhouse. The father and son duo will discuss the long-term recovery of Puerto Rico, advocacy, and Hamilton’s run in Puerto Rico. The conversation is moderated by Soledad O’Brien. 100% of proceeds will benefit UNIDOS and the Geffen Playhouse Education and Community Engagement programs.
14. L.A.’s pop-up museum catalogue is growing larger this fall with The Pizza Experience – a multi-sensory pizza themed walkthrough. Explore giant installations, an oversized cheese pool, a pizza hall of fame, pizza theme-flavored snacks throughout, actual pizza slices and more. The Pizza Experience runs through January 7. 15. The annual tradition of the Great Los Angeles Walk continues for a 13th year with a walk down 6th St. through Koreatown, and then all the way to the Pacific Ocean. The group meets at Pershing Square to kicks thing off.
16. Jackalope Indie Artisan Fair returns to Pasadena (November 17-18) with over 200 handmade makers ranging in products from home décor, food and houseware, to fashion accessories and body products. Admission is free!
17. Celebrate the season with a Burbank Winter Wine Walk with wine tasting stations, live music, holiday lighting and even snowfall along the way.
18. Vulture Fest (Nov. 17 – 18) happening at the Hollywood Roosevelt will see a plethora of different speaking events, film screenings, podcast tapings, parties and much more curated by Vulture editors over the course of the weekend.
19. There’s a Nerdy Black Friday Pop-Up shop featuring a variety of vendors and well as discounted prices on board games from Emerald Knights Comics and Games.
20. Once every month Griffith Observatory hosts a free public star party allowing the public to view through telescopes to see the stars and beyond as well as discuss with knowledgeable amateur astronomers about our solar system. FREE
21. In-N-Out Burger and Hot Rod 70th Anniversary Celebration will take place at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona and give attendees the opportunity to race their own cars down the drag strip. Live music, classic cars and In-N-Out cookout trucks will be on hand to make this one big party.
22. Long Beach Airport’s 2018 Festival of Flight will host aircrafts on display, live entertainment, food trucks, kids activities and more. FREE

23. The third official Los Angeles City/County Native American Indian Commission Pow-Wow will take place at Grand Park with dancing, vendors, contests, arts and crafts, food and much more. FREE
24. Head down to The Autry on Saturday and Sunday for the Latin American Bazaar a specially crafted artisan market that includes clothing, rugs, pottery and more. Admission is free.
25. Notorious RBG explores the life and career of Ruth Bader Ginsburg through a collection of contemporary art, archives, interactives, archival photographs and more. Each gallery section will allude to a song by the Notorious B.I.G. as the name of the exhibit suggests, and will playfully bring out the similarities between the two. Happening at the Skirball Cultural Center. The exhibit runs until March 10.

26. Come take a look at what many would consider to be a lost art – the freak show during Hellzapoppin Circus SideShow. The event, which is being touted as the world’s largest, involves several colorful characters including the Lizard Man, Escape artist Nik Sin and several more.
27. The Patchwork Show is a large showcase of handmade and artisan crafts and creations. Support some of the best independent creators throughout Southern California by buying local this holiday.
28. Take part in this year’s infamous Pasadena Doo Dah Parade, which features a colorful cast of misfits, art cars, floats and more, followed by an afterparty.
29. Descanso Gardens’ Enchanted: Forest of Light returns for another installment with a host of interactive displays and nighttime activities from November 18 through January 6, 2019.
30. The 2018 Depeche Mode Convention returns for another year of live musical tributes, DJ sets, rare videos, contests, collectibles and much more.
31. The 17th Annual California Christmas at the Grove will feature a tree lighting ceremony, with magical snow fall, a fireworks show, an appearance by Santa and a special performance by CBS A Home for the Holidays’. FREE
32. It’s that time of the year to celebrate the holiday season, which is the main purpose of Fa La Land, a pop up museum at Row DTLA. Guests will enjoy a wide variety of installations like a Jingle Bell Toy Factory and a fluorescent “Fa La Forest.” Fa La Land runs Nov. 18 through Jan. 6, 2019.
33. Find the perfect holiday gift this Sunday during Barnsdall Art Park’s Art and Craft Fair. The event will showcase work from The Art Center’s faculty and students including paintings, photography, ceramics, hand-made jewelry and plenty more.

Tsujita Noodle Production, located adjacent to The Grove, is now offering a to-go and delivery-only menu of the most popular dishes from Tsujita’s roster of existing noodle shops. Fans will be able to order select items from Tsujita L.A. Artisan Noodle, Tsujita ANNEX, The Tsujita and Killer Noodle all on one menu. The takeaway concept offers a dozen different noodle dishes like the Tsukemen ramen from Tsujita L.A. to dan dan noodles from Killer Noodles. A few rice bowls, buns and starters complete the rest of the menu.
