Posted by Vista Hermosa Natural Park is, hands-down one of my favorite spots in all of Los Angeles. An island oasis in a sea of urban development, Vista Hermosa literally translates as “beautiful view” and any visitor who hangs out there during the day will immediately recognize how appropriate that name is (check the photo below).
But what does the view of downtown Los Angeles look like at night?

Well, this Saturday night, you can find out for yourself.
The folks from the Mountains Recreation & Conservation Authority and Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy have created a special overnight community campout at Vista Hermosa Park on the evening of September 26. This event is part series of overnight camping opportunities open to the public.
Campout programming beings at 4:00pm on Saturday and runs through the following morning at 10:00am. Activities will include a park tour, a campfire, hot dog roast, astronomy program, morning nature walk, and continental breakfast all included with the price of purchase.

Saturday, September 26
4:00pm Arrival and check-in (set-up tents)
5:00pm Vista Hermosa Natural Park tour
6:00pm Dinner
7:15pm Camping games
8:00pm Campfire
9:15pm Astronomy program
10:00pm Quiet hours begin
Sunday, September 27
6:00am Quiet hours end
6:30am Sunrise stretch
7:00am Morning Nature walk
7:30am Breakfast
8:30am Cleanup / Pack up
9:00am-10:00am Departure
Participating campers are asked to bring the following items:
- Sleeping bag, tent (they may have some on hand to borrow)
- Pillow
- Water bottle / canteen
- Comfy overnight clothes and walking shoes
- Folding chair or picnic blanket
- Snacking food items
- Good attitude ready for a great time!

Keep in mind parking within the gated park is limited and street parking may also be limited.
