Every third Thursday at Griffith Observatory, the curatorial staff hosts a monthly discussion on the latest phenomena and news in the world of astronomy, all hosted (and streamed live!) from the Leonard Nimoy Event Horizon Theater. All Space Considered occasionally features guests speakers who will talk their book on topics ranging from the search for extraterrestrial life to sustaining human existence on planets other than earth. Whatever the program has on the docket, it’s always free and open to the public, with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Before the talk begins, you might arrive early to scope out the Observatory’s onsite exhibits or catch a sunset view from the west terrace. Just make sure you make your way down to the theater early enough to grab a seat for the show. Parking will involve fees (so expect it) and you might have to walk a bit if the main lot is full. If you’re cool with public transit, consider the Dash Observatory Shuttle, which has a route that runs along Vermont Ave. and is only 35 cents if you use a TAP card.
