We’ve previously talked about the array of free programming hosted at The Hammer museum. Today, we want to point you to a specific screening to liven up your Friday evening.

Tonight the museum hosts a special screening event featuring a dozen classic animated shorts from 1920s to 1940s, all restored by the UCLA Film & Television Archive and The Film Foundation, with a funding assist from the Seth MacFarlane Foundation. The lineup for Back From the Ink will feature nine animated pictures from Max and Dave Fleischer (creator of Betty Boop and Koko the Clown) plus a pair of stop-motion animation shorts directed by George Pal (creator of Puppetoons). The screening event begins at 7:30 p.m., and is free to attend, no advanced ticket required.
