So, what exactly is a Lolita?
Here’s what the meet-up group guidelines specify on their FAQ page:
“Lolita is a fashion that originated in Harajuku, a district of Tokyo, Japan. It’s a street style that is known for its cute and elegant look.”
“It is inspired by the Rococo and Victorian eras, and also takes from modern fashion. Lolitas are recognized by their knee-length bell-shaped skirt, which is achieved with petticoats. Outfits are often covered in small details like lace, bows, and ruffles, all made from high-quality materials.”
“Lolita comes in many different styles, the three main categories being Sweet, Classic, and Gothic.”
