Eccentricity takes retail form at Soap Plant / Wacko, where the self-proclaimed “purveyors of post-pop culture” sell novelties ranging from plushies and vinyl figurines to action figures, t-shirts, and something called a “Build Your Own Conspiracy Theory Kit.” So yeah… perfect for our current political climate.

Tucked in the back of the store you’ll find La Luz de Jesus Galley, a two-room space dedicated to rotating art exhibits showcasing Lowbrow Art and pop surrealistic works. Considering the nature of the inventory at Wacko, the gallery is a perfect match. If you want to know more, check out this great piece in The Eastsider that details Wacko’s history going back more than 50 years when the location was still, in fact, producing soap.
