So There's a Rooftop Film Screening Series Coming to L.A. This August

Just chilling on a rooftop in the heart of Hollywood watching classic films as the sun sets on another beautiful afternoon in Los Angeles.

At least, that’s how the Rooftop Film Club hopes you’ll be enjoying your outdoor movies beginning next month.

The popular screening series that has already held court in London and New York is making its L.A. debut this August with a three and a half week run featuring cinematic classics like Blade Runner, Back to the Future, Casablanca, and Top Gun (yes, I just put Casablanca and Top Gun on the same level).

For each screening organizers will set up rows of lawn chairs on the roof of the Ricardo Montalbán Theatre (just across from the Hollywood / Vine Metro Station) and provide headphones for each attendee (no outdoor speaker system).

Doors open at 6:00pm with screenings starting at 8:00pm for each evening’s event.

Guests are encouraged to bring a cozy blanket and dress warmly (gonna be windy on that rooftop). Food will be sold on hand, including popcorn and sweet confections from the box office below.

Oh, and the views of Hollywood and L.A. at large ought to be pretty sweet too. 🙂

Tickets are around $16, including fees, per showing.
