So what’s the silver lining living in the city of angels? The unbeatable amount of good food we’ve got scattered amongst the urban sprawl. And, perhaps more surprising, the amount of tasty food that will not cost you an arm and a leg.
Mind you, I’m not referring to the prefab, big-box, heat-lamp using, national chain type of cheap food. I’m talking about freshly shucked oysters, famous cookies, juicy burgers, cream puffs, legit tacos and bacon donuts.
Got your attention? Good, because what we’ve done here is round up 30 of the tastiest things in L.A. that cost no more than a buck.

99 cent Burger Tuesdays at The Rockefeller starting at 5:00pm at both Manhattan Beach and Hermosa locations.
3. Potato Ball at Portos

4. Dollar Hits
The name saids it all at this Filipino street vendor. Choose a stick of skewers (BBQ pork, chicken intestine, isaw just to name a few) and grill’em yourself on the spot!
5. Cream Puffs at Little Swan Bakery
This little bakery in the SVG has fluffy little creme puffs for 50 cents each!

Chase away the Monday blues! Every Monday The Stand in Encino, hotdogs are a buck.
7. Donuts at Randy’s Donuts
The donut shaped sign might be big but the donut prices are tiny! 85 cents to a dollar for regular donuts like glaze, chocolate old fashion and jelly.

8. Fries & Tots at Coles
Come for the $5 French dips and add some fries or tots for $1. Deal happens during happy hour, late night happy hour and all day and night on Tuesdays.
9. Cookies at La Monarca Bakery
For 50 cents a piece, you have your pick of cookies on display at this celebrated Mexican bakery.

12. Blackened Shishito Peppers at Shao Kao BBQ Truck
Chef Chen has been cooking since 15 (he’s 21 now) his new food truck grills up some affordable skewers, like their blackened shishito peppers for a modest $1.

14. EMC Seafood & Raw Bar
Koreatown’s EMC has $1 oysters during happy hour from 4:00pm to 7:00pm daily. They also have a reverse happy hour which runs Sunday through Thursday from 10:00pm to close.
