Are you the kind of person who has a hard time saying no to free? Brace yourself: This week in Los Angeles food features free tacos, free ice cream, free meatball subs and free Angel City beer.

Let’s start with today. Pirolo’s Panino will give away free subs for their grand opening on Melrose avenue starting at 11 a.m. Also today, La Halo Top scoop complimentary ice cream at their new Culver City spot. Belgian Brewpub Bluebird Brasserie Now Serving in Sherman Oaks

Belgian brewpub Bluebird Brasserie recently opened on a popular stretch of Ventura Blvd in Sherman Oaks. Bluebird brews their own Belgian-style beer onsite and features Belgian dishes that include beer cheese croquette and meatballs, steak frites and moules-frites. They also offer vegan Impossible Foods meat for a number of dishes served. Overall, a great addition to the valley. Read all about our visit here.

Daikokuya to Open New Ramen Restaurant

The ramen empire that is Daikokuya are adding another ramen joint in Little Tokyo. According to DTLAer, Hachioji Craft Ramen is slated to open later this spring and a team of chefs from Daikokuya are currently in Japan honing their skills. The new ramen spot will take a more modern approach on dishes.

L.A. City Council Votes to Draft Ordinance Legalizing Street Vendors

While Los Angeles City Council supports decriminalizing sidewalk vending last year, vendors still face citations, fines, and harassment. Things are about to change (hopefully) recently the Los Angeles City Council voted 11-4 to draft an ordinance to allow street vendors to obtain a permit, making their business operation a legal one. This ordinance could go into effect as soon as July.

NoMad Invites Public to Rooftop

Did you know the NoMad Los Angeles just opened the Rooftop Café to the public for reservations only? Now you do so grab a reservation this week and enjoy a  rooftop menu that includes Prawn Roll with cremé fraîche and apple on toasted brioche; a Club Sandwich with roasted chicken, bacon, lettuce & tomato; and a Cookies & Cream ice cream sandwich with vanilla and caramel. New cocktails will be offered including a Dewin’ It with jalapeno-infused tequila, mezcal, size, roasted poblano pepper and lemon, the Blistered in the Sun with whiskey, sherry, passionfruit, lemon and a weekly featured frozen cocktail. Hours vary on different days and are listed online. Guests can make their reservations through Resy. Although the café is open to the public keep in-mind the poolside area is still only for hotel guests.

Tocaya Organica will celebrate their two-year anniversary with a free taco giveaway for the first 100 customers at each location this Tuesday, April 24. The modern organic Mexican restaurant will be offering one free taco per customer, which will include their choice of taco style, protein (options to include: achiote chicken, chicken tinga and adobo tofu) and queso. For customers who didn’t make the cut in time, keep in-mind it’s also Taco Tuesday and there’s a 2-for-1 special and happy hour all day long! Tocaya Organica includes locations in Venice, Santa Monica, Playa Vista, West Hollywood and Century City.

On Tuesday, April 24, Halo Top Creamery will open it’s second scoop shop in Los Angeles at Westfield Century City. On opening day from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Halo Top will be giving away free soft serve and ice cream during their grand opening. The shop will have over 50 specialty toppings and a variety of flavors. Guests can also show off their cold creations at the interactive photo booth and check out a 3-D art installation displayed for the party.

By way of Miami Beach, James Beard Award Semifinalist Chef Michael Pirolo, will bring his famed Italian sandwich pop-up, Pirolo’s Panino to Los Angeles. Pirolo’s Panino will open on Tuesday, April 24 at 7461 Melrose Avenue. To celebrate the opening day, they’ll host a meatball sub toast with local officials and give away free paninos to the first 100 guests who follow their Instagram @pirolos.

50 Oregon wineries will be represented as The Oregon Wine Trail comes to The Line Hotel this Tuesday. In addition to generous pours of select Oregon–based wines, guests will enjoy a few goodies from Olympia Provisions, Salt & Straw Ice Cream, and Stumptown Coffee Roasters.

Pasadena’s One Colorado hosts its first-ever Happy Hour Week from April 25-May 1 offering live entertainment and specially priced drinks and bites from local resturants.

Taste of Downtown Long Beach April 25-26 will takeover the East Village Arts District with samples of food and drinks from restaurants from in the area. Admission is free and guests pay to eat by purchasing booklets of tickets.

Bad Housekeeping at Good Housekeeping in Highland Park pops up every Wednesday now through May 30. On these nights you’ll find libations inspired by bad recipes of the past including a ‘glazed ham’ and cherry cordials cocktail.

Golden Road Brewing presents Hip HOPS Night on the last Wednesday of every month. From 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. guests will enjoy $5 food + drink specials, DJ tunes and a handful of live performances as well as live art and pop up shops. Admission is $5.

Angel City Brewery will host Plant Nite a succulent D.I.Y. event where guest get to create their own terrariums while sipping on beer and snacking on bites.

Take a Gin Crafting Class at Greenbar Distillery this Wednesday. Taste a flight of six gins while learning about the history, then guests will learn how to craft their own gin while enjoying gin cocktails.

Visit Eastown in Hollywood for Animals, Embers & Green Things this Thursday. Part of Feastown Collective’s Dinner & Story Series, Chef Royce Burke will offer up a casual “kamayan style” grilling event inspired by Argentinian asado with a twist.

The Los Angeles Pancakes & Booze Art Show comes to Union in Arlington Heights featuring over 150 local artists, live body painting, live art, an eclectic lineup of live musicians and DJs, and more. Come hungry , there will be a FREE pancake bar all night long.

Red Herring located in Eagle Rock just rolled out their new spring menu. Dishes include a Crispy Confit Duck Leg with beluga lentils, tasso ham, creamed mustard greens, Duroc Pork Chop with cranberry beans, grilled escarole, fennel emulsion, chermoula, and a New York Steak with smoked heirloom potatoes, charred spring onions, green garlic, rosemary aioli.

Taste of the Eastside returns to Los Angeles River Center and Gardens for a day of celebrating food and drink from Eastside businesses like Silver Lake, Echo Park, Eagle Rock, Highland Park, Los Feliz, Atwater Village and beyond.

Speak Easy Yoga is a brand-new series curated especially for Hotel Indigo Los Angeles Downtown on Sundays through the end of May. Do a down dog with music from the 1920s and if you choose to follow your yoga session with the Indigo’s Bootlegger Brunch, you’ll enjoy your first drink free with proof of yoga ticket purchase.

We Have Noodles located in Silver Lake is now serving brunch on Sundays. The menu features a tight selection of dim sum inspired bites like the Chicken and Black Truffle Shumai and Thai Sausage Scotch Egg. Two appetizers are also offered; a savory scallion pancake and soy sauce chow mein. Entrees during the new brunch include four noodle dishes including something called Breakfast Ramen.

Kali Supper Klub will host their first ever day time event called “Sunday Funday Fish Fry!” themed to the music of Lil Wayne. The lunch will include all things fried like Cajun Fries and a variety of Po Boys ranging from soft shell crab to catfish. There will be New Orleans beer pairings and if you’re into Mint Juleps you can go bottomless for an extra fee.
