Cannabis Oil in Your Cocktail
DTLA’s Prank Bar is the first bar to incorporate cured terpenes into a selection of their cocktails. Terpenes are a type of legal cannabis derived oils that give you the aroma and taste of the cannabis plant but without the high. The drinks come highly stylized and are often paired with items on the food menu. Check some of them out during Prank’s untraditional happy hour from 2:40 to 7:02 p.m. Food Beast recently created a cool video about the drinks, see below.

Enjoy happy hour at Gratitude Beverly Hills a spin off of vegan institution Cafe Gratitude Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. Items include a selection of wines, beer, and specialty cocktails with small bites such as Korean Collard Spring Rolls, a vegan Summer Cheese Plate Nacho Fries and Loaded Heirloom Potato Fries. Drinkin’ Smokin’ & West Coastin’ — A Group Love/Hate Letter to LA at Think Tank Gallery examines Los Angeles and all its stereotypes through art and insanely fun events. This Thursday the gallery will host “Comedy, Cake & Cannabis Night,” a night of stand up, edibles, elixirs and cake!
Visit The Wine House in West Los Angeles to meet wine authority DoctorWine (Daniele Cernilli). Regarded as an expert in Italian wine, Cernilli has tasted, evaluated and classified about 150,000 Italian wines. At this event he will be joined by a small group of highly regarded Italian wineries for Italian sips, passed appetizers from Upstairs2 restaurant and each guests will receive a sign copy of Cernilli’s book The Ultimate Guide to Italian Wine 2017. Wineries include Casanova di Neri from Tuscany/Montalcino, Querciabella from Tuscany/Chianti Classico, Velenosi from Marche, Bertani from Veneto/Amarone, Torre Rosazza from Friuli Venezia Giulia, Feudo Maccari from Sicily, Pio Cesare from Piedmont and Poliziano from Tuscany/Montepulciano. Tickets are $65 per person.

The final Taste of Downtown at the Long Beach waterfront takes place on August 23 and 24 featuring favorites like The Pie Hole, Parkers’ Lighthouse, Rasselbock, La Strada, The Federal and many more.
The Tuck Room Tavern Westwood will host their Endless Summer Celebration a champagne dinner series with Award-Winning Piper Heidsieck Champagne. Guests will get to try artisan cocktails created by the house of Piper Heidsieck, Brut and Rose and the Piper Heidsieck Sublime Demi-Sec. As a supplement Piper RARE will also be offered. The cocktails will be paired with a four-course dinner from James Beard Award-winning Chef Sherry Yard. Tickets cost $95 per person.
XOC Tequila Grill in Woodland Hills will host a four-course cocktail-pairing dinner featuring favorites like the Molcajete XOC and Camarones Al Ajilo. Each course will be paired with a signature cocktail made with Patron Blanco, Repo or XO. In addition, a tequila master will be on hand throughout the dinner to discuss the different pairings and tequila profiles. The dinner cost $75 per person.
International wine critic Daniele Cernilli, aka DoctorWine hits the road with a small group of wine makers and representatives from notable Italian luxury wineries for an intimate tour showcasing a selection of Cernilli’s favorite wines. On Wednesday, the tour will stop at Valentino Ristorante in Santa Monica for a dinner featuring wines from Querciabella from Tuscany/Chianti Classico, Pio Cesare from Piedmont, Velenosi Vini from Marche, Feudo Maccari from Sicily and more. Tickets cost $100 per person and includes a copy of Cernilli’s book The Ultimate Guide to Italian Wine 2017.

Summer Nights in the Garden returns to the Natural History Museum in Downtown Los Angeles for garden-inspired cocktails, music and botanical tours with the NHM garden staff. Guests are welcome to bring a picnic or purchase bites from food trucks, the event is free to attend. FREE
Catch a flick on the rooftop of the Ritz-Carlton in Downtown Los Angeles during Summer Supper + Show Series presented by WP24 by Wolfgang Puck. The series continues with a screening of Father of the Bride on August 25 and 26. The experience begins with a two-course prix-fixe dinner at modern Chinese eatery WP24, then a move to the rooftop deck to take in a movie from a select reserve seat while savoring cinema snacks such as housemade potato chips, candied Marcona almonds, crispy breadsticks with prosciutto, and caramel corn. Tickets for this supper-and-a-show experience are $85. If you prefer to just watch the movie while enjoying the aforementioned Puck-created concessions, reserve a seat with snacks for just $25.

The LA Taco Festival 2017 returns to Grand Park for a day of eating some of the tastiest tacos in town. This year’s participants include Kogi, Tacos La Estrella, Street Kitchen, Epic Tacos, Thai Mex Cocina, and The Shrimp & Taco Stop. Admission is free and guests can purchase tacos a la carte from 20 or so vendors.
The Proud Bird welcomes Bludso’s BBQ with a grand opening celebration this Saturday at the newly redesigned food hall. West siders will now have a chance to taste Compton’s best que. Festivities include a BBQ picnic where guests will get $2 off all BBQ items, and $5 off full racks of ribs, and a complimentary jar of Bludso’s special spice rub. There will also be two rib eating contests for those with an extra big appetite. Happening 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Nisei Week Japanese Festival happeningAugust 19 through 27 is a unique cultural celebration in historic Little Tokyo and this Saturday they will host a Gyoza Eating Championship, come as a spectator or try your hand at eating the most gyoza’s more info here.

The first annual Festival Del Marisco Y Michelada is premiering this Sunday. Taking place at the Pico Rivera Sports Arena, the event will feature carnival rides, games, food vendors, dance bands, seafood and an award for the best michelada! Tickets are currently available online for $45 (general admission) and $75 (VIP and backstage access).
Winsome will host a family-style potluck dinner to raise awareness about food waste and to show what flavorful sustainability looks like. Chef Chad Colby of forthcoming Orto, Chef Miles Thompson of Michael’s and Winsome’s Bar Director Edwin Cruz will each create something delicious that produces almost zero waste. The night will also include a short compost workshop from LA Compost. The event cost $60 per person and will benefit L.A. Kitchen.
