Hailed as the “Mrs. Dynamite of Baroque music” by the BBC, Emmanuelle Haïm is a trailblazing French conductor and harpsichordist, renowned for bringing historical masterpieces to life with unparalleled energy and authenticity, riveting audiences worldwide over the years. This month, that energy finds its way to Walt Disney Concert Hall in the form of the The Handel Project.
Beginning March 21, Haïm brings some of the best of the Baroque era to WDCH via a mini-festival dedicated to the complex beauty and evocative sophistication of Handel as well as music by Bach and Rameau. The week-long fest kicks off with three nights of Handel’s Dixit Dominus and Bach’s Magnificat performed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic. The schedule caps off with vocal programs conducted by Haïm, featuring celebrity guest singers from Le Concert d’Astrée, an instrumental and vocal ensemble dedicated to the performance of Baroque music.
