Make Metro Part of Your Weekend

Eastside Picnic Festival -> Every third Saturday of the month, The Queer Mercado cultivates an inclusive community space with local vendors at the East LA Civic Center. For April, they’re bringing live music to the scene with a special lineup of performers for the first installment of the Eastside Picnic Festival. The fun runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and it’s totally free to attend.

PINK CLOUD at Beyond the Streets FA TP > Starting Friday, BEYOND THE STREETS is hosting the new group exhibition PINK CLOUD, a mix of installations, paintings and sculptures which will also be the Los Angeles debut of San Francisco-based graffiti artist GREY (Jonas Melvin). Other artists contributing work include Alexis Ross, Alicia McCarthy, Angel Castro, Barry McGee, Cheryl Dunn, Dan Murphy, Dave Schubert, Elberto Muller, GKAE, Mark Cross, MERCH, Stephen ESPO Powers, Timothy Curtis, and Todd James. Let Me Fix You a Plate Opening ReceptionFA > On Friday, the Manhattan Beach Art Center hosts an opening reception for Let Me Fix You a Plate—an immersive art experience created by artist Keith Magruder that centers the dining table as a metaphor for culture, heritage, and the resilience of Black communities. Friday’s opening includes an artist talk and light refreshments, in addition to exhibition viewing. Runs 5 to 7 p.m. and free to attend. More info here.

Wild for the Planet ft. Big Bunny -> The L.A. Zoo celebrates Earth Day and Easter with special events this Friday through Sunday, including Earth Expo featuring conservation and community organizations, special animal wellness talks, live performances, storytime for kids, honey tastings, and photos with “Big Bunny.” The events are included with zoo admission (though the honey tastings and photos are extra!). Easy Mornings in Grand ParkM FA TP > Easy Mornings are back at Gloria Molina Grand Park this Saturday for the second of the series’s April activations. The event offers a respite for Angelenos of all ages to unwind and recharge in the heart of Downtown L.A. Enjoy free activities, including family yoga, theater, dance, arts & crafts, and an eclectic marketplace curated by Smorgasburg L.A., featuring local organizations, artists, and micro-businesses dedicated to community recovery and healing. Self Care Yoga at CAAMFA > Bring your exercise mat and head over to the California African American Museum’s Self Care Yoga program this Saturday morning. The recurring monthly series features a sixty-minute flow led by yoga and meditation teacher Constance Hartwell, all tuned for both novices and experienced practitioners alike. Bunny at The BlocFA > On Saturday, hop over to The Bloc and capture a pic with everyone’s favorite seasonal Bunny. The festivities will also feature an open-air photo booth for digital and physical copies of your photos, face painters, arts and crafts, and a Sustainable Spring Market curated by the SoCal Etsy Guild. Bloomtown Flower Farm TourFA > In honor of springtime flowers, Bloomtown Flower Farm Co. in Covina will once again host an open farm day this Saturday, inviting the public to their flower fields for a self-guided tour as well as fresh flowers, food and beverage available for purchase. Earth Day at Marine Cabrillo AquariumFA > San Pedro’s Marine Cabrillo Aquarium celebrate Earth Day with a lineup of family-friendly earth care activities this Saturday. Programming includes a beach cleanup from 9 a.m. to noon, an Earth Day Fair and Market from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and a Native Garden Restoration from 1 to 3 p.m. Plus, there will be a few tasty food trucks on hand to purchase bites. Screen Free SaturdayFA > Take a break from your devices and connect with likeminded folks at a screen-free community hang on the Ivy Station lawn in Culver City this Saturday. MOCA’s Plant SaleFA > On Saturday, MOCA’s Plant Sale returns for its third year, transforming The Geffen Contemporary into a lush marketplace of greenery and botanical art. Curated by artist Alika Cooper, this annual event gathers artists and growers from across Los Angeles to showcase and sell plants, ceramics, and nature-inspired wares. This year also features a Sustainable Skillbuilding herbalism workshop by Blue Hour Goods, exploring the healing properties of native plants—a perfect complement to your plant haul. Baby Goat Yoga, Bunnies & Egg Hunt at the Castle GreenM > This Easter Sunday, experience yoga with Nigerian Dwarf Goats and bunnies, all on the majestic grounds of Pasadena’s historic Castle Green. Greek Easter Brunch at Zaytinya -> Celebrate Easter weekend with a Mediterranean twist at Zaytinya Culver City, the newest coastal-chic destination from the José Andrés Group. From Saturday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the restaurant serves up a Greek-inspired four-course brunch ($55/person) featuring seasonal specials like Spring Pea Tzatziki, Seared Salmon with dill, Roasted Asparagus with preserved lemon, and Smoked Lamb Shoulder with lemon potatoes—plus fan-favorite Zaytinya classics like hommus, crispy brussels sprouts, and olive oil cake. Easter at L’Ermitage Beverly Hills -> Celebrate Easter with elegance at Costa Covo Osteria, tucked inside the luxurious L’Ermitage Beverly Hills.
