Labor Day approaches, and with it the unofficial end of summer. But before we say adios to the current events season, we’ve got laundry list of fun to-dos to cap things off in style.

This August 30 to September 2 in Los Angeles, you’ll find a KCRW Summer Nights party at CAAM, Leimert Park Jazz Festival, La Gente de Santa Monica Block Party, Americana in the Park, “Dark Side of the Moon” YOGA, Giant Robot × JANM Konbini 2, and more. Make Metro Part of Your Weekend

KCRW Summer Nights at CAAMM FA TP > KCRW Summer Nights comes to California African American Museum this Friday with sets by KCRW DJs Novena Carmel and Francesca Harding, plus a guest set by DJ Gavin Turek.  The evening also features food trucks, a beer garden, an all-ages maker activity, and after-hours museum access to all CAAM exhibitions. Zoo Friday Nights -> This Friday, the L.A. Zoo continues their summer series of weekly after-hours events, offering access the zoo grounds at the sunset hour while experiencing carousel rides, food delicious bites for purchase, beverages, DJ’d music, and a family dance party. MASQ!M > This weekend, Heritage Square Museum transforms into a Venice Carnevale on the evening of a masked ball where a vengeful phantom appears, seeking justice. Presented by the Downtown Repertory Theater Company, known for sold out experience Fangs! and Witch!, this years production MASQ! will include unique individual experiences as you meet the people of La Serenissima and traverse a world of haunted mansions and an abandoned church. Super 70mm Star Trek 60th Anniversary Series -> It’s all Trek all the time this Friday to Sunday at the Fine Arts Theatre in Beverly Hills. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the production of the original Star Trek television series, you can catch screenings screen ultra-rare 70mm prints of Star Trek II-VI, as well as the restored Star Trek: The Motion Picture director’s cut in 4K Digital. Plus, special guests (like Adam Nimoy and director Nicholas Meyer) will be in attendance for pre-screening intros and conversations. Tickets are $25 per screening. Marvel Studios’ Infinity Saga Concert Experience -> This Friday and Saturday at the Hollywood Bowl, Gustavo Dudamel leads the Los Angeles Philharmonic in a musical journey through the Marvel Cinematic Universe backed by film clips of the iconic heroes and buoyed by fireworks and light-up PixMob wristbands. Friday Night Wine Tastings at Barnsdall ParkM > It’s the final Friday summer night wine tasting at Barnsdall Art Park. A $45 ticket gets you a flight of wine curated by Silverlake Wine, plus access to a rotation of food trucks, all supported by tunes from local DJs and sweet sunset views of the Hollywood Sign and Griffith Park Observatory. Shakespeare in the ParkFA > The Independent Shakespeare Co. is once again bringing a summer of the Bard to Griffith Park, but unlike in past years, the 2024 season will focus on a single production. From July 10 to September 1, catch Wednesday-through-Sunday performances of As You Like It at ISC’s familiar space near the Old Zoo. The show starts at 7 p.m. but you’ll want to come at 6 p.m. to enjoy the immersive prologue. More info here.

Cinecon Classic Film Festival -> Cinecon celebrates its 60th year this September. The five-day showcase held at Writers Guild of America Theater in Beverly Hills puts the focus on unusual, rarely seen, and otherwise out-of-the-public eye films, with packed slates of screenings interspersed by Q&A programming. Ovation Movie Night M FA > On Friday, Barbie screens at Ovation Hollywood’s monthly Friday Movie Nights series. Guests can swing by early to receive snag free popcorn and discounted treats from the TCL Chinese Theatre Concessions Stand. Movie starts at 7 p.m. More info here.

Leimert Park Jazz Festival M FA TP > The 2024 Leimert Park Jazz Festival returns this Saturday with a packed lineup of Jazz artists supported by a kids zone, wine lounge, and food court at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza. La Gente de Santa Monica Block PartyFA > This Saturday, the City of Santa Monica, Curator Steve Galindo, and Dorado 806 Projects team up to host a block party to mark the citywide exhibition La Gente de Santa Monica, which honors Latinx, Afro-Latin, Asian-Latino, and Hispanic Heritage Month. Expect a full afternoon of music, art activities, and performances near the Dorado 806 Projects gallery at 806 Broadway, Santa Monica. Runs noon to 7 p.m. Free to attend. More info here.

Giant Robot × JANM Konbini 2M TP > This Saturday, Japanese American National Museum and artists from Giant Robot team up to create a pop-up Konbini (Japanese convenience store) where guests can shop snacks, household supplies, art prints, zines, pins, and more. Plus, you can check out the Giant Robot Biennale 5 art exhibition on display at the museum. Access to the pop-up is included with museum admission, which starts at $16 for adults. Yoga on the Mountain at King Gillette RanchFA > On the last Saturday of the month, the Santa Monica Mountains Fund hosts a morning of outdoor yoga and live acoustic music at the King Gillette Ranch in the heart of the Santa Monica Mountains. “Dark Side of the Moon” YOGA at Lodge RoomM FA > On Saturday, Highland Park Independent Film Festival and movement artist Stacey Breakall team up at Lodge Room for a unique yoga experience that blends meditation, poses, projections, and lights in a cinematic tribute Pink Floyd’s classic album. LACMA Latin SoundsFA > LACMA is bringing a series of Saturday evening, outdoor concerts at Dorothy Collins Brown Amphitheater (just north of the La Brea Tar Pits Museum) in celebration of the exhibition Painting in the River of Angels: Judy Baca and The Great Wall. Prosperity Market Pop-up and Block PartyFA TP > This Sunday, head to Hilltop Coffee + Kitchen on Slauson Avenue for Prosperity Markets pop-up market and block party. Happening from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. the event includes a wine garden by 1010 Wine, Prosperity Market’s mobile farmers market place, craft area for kids, a Black business scavenger hunt, live entertainment and more. Swimsuits & Cowboy Boots Labor Day Edition -> Celebrate Labor Day at Desert 5 Spot’s rooftop bash, “Swimsuits & Cowboy Boots,” on Sunday. Happening from 2 p.m. until late guests can ride on a mechanical bull, dance poolside to DJs, and cool off in the pool. There’s even shopping with Jada & Jon’s Trading Post where you can find vintage and custom goods from local vendors. Cap the night off with a live performance by Rob Leines at 7 p.m. More info here.

Poolside Cinema -> Every Sunday the Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows in Santa Monica hosts film screenings poolside. Tickets cost $45 a person and includes popcorn, and a $45 food credit. This week they’ll screen Napoleon Dynamite. More info here

Rhonda LisFA > This Labor Day Sunday, A Club Called Rhonda takes over Bar Lis in Hollywood with a rooftop party, dayvibes, music, food and cocktails. Tickets are free. Starts at 2 p.m. More info here.

Labor Day Weekend at The Waterfront -> This Sunday, The Waterfront on the Venice Beach Boardwalk is bringing back its beloved bottomless brunch buffet for a one-day Labor Day celebration.
