1. Cinema Under The Stars in Westwood Village
The Westwood Village Improvement Association is hosting a monthly free (and family friendly!) movie screening series. It’s called Cinema Under The Stars and it kicks off this Monday with a screening of The Lego Movie.
2. Magic Monday at The Santa Monica Playhouse
Every week the the team from Smoke and Mirrors aims to add a little razzle-dazzle to your Monday monotony by showcasing a rotating cast of award-winning magicians. Discount tickets available via Goldstar for this event, while supplies last.
3. Monday Mayhem Game Night at Angel City Brewery
Come on out to Angel City Brewery in DTLA’s Arts District as they host one epic game night that includes 15+ Board Games, 8+ beers on tap, a 3-round cornhole Tournament and one geeky host.

4. Moonlight Movies on the Beach
The Moonlight Movies on the Beach series is back for 2016 with a full summer of free screenings taking place at Granada Beach in Belmont Shore. This week Pretty in Pink will be screened.
5. Food Truck Night at The California Heritage Museum
Food truck night at the museum host a big selection of gourmet food trucks every Tuesday night from 5:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. at the California Heritage Museum on Main Street.
6. LACMA Tuesday Matinee Film Series Screens Now Voyager
Every week LACMA screens a classic film, the ongoing Tuesday Matinee film series cost $2 for members and $4 for non members.
7. Parks after Dark at Vincent Lugo Park
Smith Park and Vincent Lugo Park in the SGV will be offering several free family friendley programs at both city parks. Taking place Tuesdays at Smith Park and Wednesdays at Vincent Lugo Park, starting at 6 p.m. kids can come play a human version of “Hungry, Hungry Hippos”, learn to make balloon animals and more. Parks After Dark will kick off June 21 and run through August 3.
8. World Rhythms at Descanso Gardens
The music series feature world music and dance performances celebrating the human connection to nature and gardens. Bring a picnic or purchase from Patina, this is a great family-friendly event in a gorgeous setting. World Rhythms will run every Tuesday from June 7 to July 26 from 6-7 p.m.

9. Shakespeare in the Park
Shakespeare takes over Griffith Park once again offering free donation-based shows down at the Old Zoo area. Performances will feature a modern adaptation of “Richard III” every Wednesday through Sunday until July 24.
10. Late Nights at Grand Central Market

Late-night fun at Grand Central Market? Count us in! This Wednesday is free movie night on the Horse Thief BBQ patio at 8 p.m.
11. Finding Dory at The Hollywood El Capitan Theatre
The El Capitan Theatre presents a special engagement of Finding Dory (June 17 – August 7). Before the movie, The Bubble Guy will form bubbles beyond the imagination in a breathtaking bubble extravaganza live on stage! Get more information and discount tickets for this week via Goldstar.
12. Bottle Share at The Rookery Pomona
From 7 – 10 p.m. craft beer enthusiasts can head over to The Rookery in Downtown Pomona to share their favorite bottle of craft beer with others and vice versa. The rule is to bring a 750ml bottle and order a minimum of $10 in food to participate in the tasting.
13. Lunchtime Yoga Retreat
Get your sun salutations on in the middle of Downtown in Grand Park! The free yoga class starts at 12:15 p.m. and runs to 1 p.m.

14. Free Grand Performances in DTLA
This Thursday Grand Performances will host a free live demo of how to make Escabeche with Ernie Miller and a free concert with Troker, Kneedelus on Friday.
15. ‘After 5’ Music Series at Hauser Wirth & Schimmel
Arts District gallery Hauser Wirth & Schimmel will be offering a brand new ‘After 5’ weekly music series all summer long. Guests will be able to enjoy a mix of live bands and DJ sets, craft cocktails from The Spare Room, plus Russian hand-pies from the Airstream kitchen of Pirozhki LA. Guest will also be given access to the ARTBOOK bookstore and all current exhibitions.
16. The Alchemist’s Lab: A Victorian Escape Room
Imagine this… you are part of the Scotland Yard task force assigned to investigate an alchemist’s lab where you’ll have to uncover his secret plans and unlock his treasure chest. Sounds like your kind of event? Visit Oddville Art Space and bring your A game this escape room won the Best Interactive Award at the 2016 Adelaide Fringe Festival in Australia. 17. Street Style Cinema
The Grove together with Who What Wear are putting on a free movie screening under the stars every Thursday during the summer. Screening this week is 10 Things I Hate About You. Enjoy DJs, themed cocktails and a photo booth. Snag free valet parking by donating a book to Baby2Baby.
18. Long Beach Marathon Fun Run
Go on a FREE five mile evening run this Thursday evening sponsored by Jet Blue and treat yourself to a $3 Michelob ULTRA inside On The Rocks Bar & Grill along with some fun raffle prizes after.
19. Free Museums This Thursday
- The Japanese American National Museum offers free admission from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. every Thursday.
- Every Thursday evening from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. admission is free to both the MOCA on Grand and The Geffen Contemporary.
- The Skirball Cultural Center is free to all every Thursday.
20. Throwback Thursdays Screening of Auntee Mame

21. San Gabriel Summer Nights
San Gabriel Summer Nights is a free community event taking place at several popular locations in the city. This week the program will host Noche de Baile – Louie Cruz Beltran at the Mission Playhouse Plaza.

22. 8th Annual Port of Los Angeles Cars and Stripes Forever
This FREE all ages pre-Independence Day celebration will feature over 100 classic cars, live bands, food trucks, a beer garden, and a fireworks grand finale.

23. Movie Screening at South Coast Botanical Gardens
The South Coast Botanical Gardens is hosting a outdoor movie screening! Guest will enjoy pre-show music, drinks from the bar and snacks from food trucks. This month they will screen Pitch Perfect.
24. 626 Night Market
Southern California’s original and largest Asian-themed night market is celebrating five years of food and fun in 2016 with markets happening July through September.
25. Westfield Summertime Cinema FREE Weekly Movie Screening
Westfield Fashion Square in Sherman Oaks will host weekly free outdoor movie screenings all summer. This week they will screen Minions, come early for face painting and balloon artists.
26. Shakespeare by the Sea
The summer season of Shakespeare By The Sea is in full swing with a free performance of Othello at Point Fermin Park Friday and Cymbeline at Point Fermin Park Saturday.
27. All Space Considered
The Griffith Observatory hosts a monthly forum where some of the most amazing phenomena in the known universe are explained and discussed. It’s called All Space Considered and it takes place on the first Friday of every month. Oh, and it’s free!
28. Los Angeles Dodgers Friday Night Fireworks
Nothing beats catching a game beneath the stars especially with our beloved Dodgers . After the final out is called, the lights will go down and guests can actually go on to the field for a spectacular fireworks show. This weekend the Dodgers are up against the Colorado Rockies, and our friends at Goldstar have discount tickets while supplies last.
29. 2016 Anime Expo
Taking place July 1-4 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, the Anime Expo offers hundreds of vendor booths, a masquerade ball, concerts, battle of the bands, fashion shows, dance parties, video games, karaoke, cosplay, contests, and much more.
30. The Beatles at the Grammy Museum
Now till September 5, the Grammy Museum will have over 400 pieces of memorabilia on display including recordings, videos and photos of the most famous band in the world.
31. Barnsdall Park’s Friday Night Wine Tasting
All summer long Barnsdall Art Park has a weekly wine tasting fundraiser to benefit the Barnsdall Art Park Foundation programs and projects. Perched on a hill with a gorgeous panoramic view of Hollywood, guests will enjoy fine wine and art in the gardens of Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural gem, Hollyhock House. Silver Lake Wine will curate fine selections of boutique, small production, artisanal wines for park-goers as well as local gourmet cheese shop, Say Cheese.
32. Red White & Boobies: Making America Naked Again
Head over to Harvelle’s in Downtown Long Beach for a patriotic burlesque show put on by the Dirty Little Secrets this Friday. Tickets cost $10 at this 21+ event. We spotted discount tickets over at Goldstar!

33. The Virus: An Immersive Escape Room Experience

The Long Beach Museum of Art is free every Friday.
The Norton Simon Museum is free from 5 p.m. – 8p.m. this Friday.

35. First Fridays at Venice Beach
On the first Friday of the month head down to Abbott Kinney Blvd. in Venice Beach for tons of food trucks, open galleries and late-night shop hours. Get more information via the official event blog.
36. Avenue Q at the Cupcake Theater
