Netflix Is A Joke Radio Presents: Are You Still Listening?M FA > Netflix’s free monthly stand-up series returns this Tuesday to Dynasty Typewriter with host Aida Rodriguez along with a lineup of Natasha Collier, Skyler Higley, Alfred Robles, Chike Robinson, Elecra Telesford, and Jessice Keenan. No cost to RSVP for admission, but seating is first-come, first-served and not guarantee entry. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and show starts an hour later. More info here.

Cultural Forces at The WendeFA > This Tuesday afternoon, The Wende Museum will hosts a performance by Cultural Forces, an ensemble of seven Ukrainian musicians who became active-duty soldiers, to the A-Frame Theater. The group will perform Ukrainian classics, global favorites, and folk songs featuring the traditional bandura. Program runs from 3 to 4 p.m., and is free to attend with RSVP. More info here.

Minh H. Phan: GOOD FIREFA > On Tuesday, The Hammer highlights their Breath(e): Toward Climate and Social Justice exhibition with an immersive performance by Michelin star-winning chef Minh H. Phan. GOOD FIRE will unfold as two separate 30-minute presentations, which honor cycles of nature through a controlled burn to invoke ancestral memory. The program will also feature torched mochis and poetry accompanied by musician and scholar Jason R Nguyen’s live đàn bầu (single-string zither) as well as California gạo nếp (sho chiku bai sweet rice) provided by Robin Koda of Koda Farms. The Comedy Patio Four-Year Anniversary ShowM FA > This Wednesday, Grand Central Market’s monthly comedy show celebrates four years of performances with a special lineup that includes Babs Gray, Rachele Friedland, Cooper Lyden, Lu Louis, and Jeff Buck. Astra Lumina: An Enchanted Night Walk Amongst The Stars -> ​​Continuing this Thursday to Sunday, Astra Lumina at the South Coast Botanic Garden morphs the garden grounds into a multi-sensory celestial pathway where guests will walk amongst the stars thanks to brilliant lights, cosmic visions, and astral song. Where Does Democracy Go From Here?M FA > Barely a week after another highly contested national election, ALOUD on Ideas is posing the important question: Where Does Democracy Go From Here? at The Mark Taper Auditorium at Central Library this Thursday. Veteran journalist and author Todd Purdum will moderate a panel that includes Elaina Plott Calabro, Adam Nagourney, and Brianna Tucker. The program begins at 7 p.m. Free to attend with registration. Making Space Workshop at Oxy Arts FA > This Thursday, Oxy Arts hosts a free workshop on Watercolor & Textiles, inspired by their latest exhibition Invisibility: Powers & Perils. Night Games at the Music CenterM FA > This Friday and Saturday, The Music Center and IndieCade team up for Night Games, which showcases the creativity and innovation of the indie game community over two nights at Jerry Moss Plaza with tons of solo and multi-player games to enjoy. Alamo Drafthouse Presents: A Broadway RaveM > Musical lovers can swing over to Alamo Drafthouse DTLA this Friday for a special party celebrating all things Broadway with a live DJ, sing-alongs, and propmasters. It all takes place at the Video Vortex bar located inside the theater. Tickets are $10. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Definitely come dressed for the occassion! More info here.

L.A. Zoo Lights: Animals Aglow -> Starting this Friday, The Los Angeles Zoo’s brightest annual tradition is back to transform the zoo grounds into a world of light and holiday magic. The after-hours event offers brightly lit displays and festive family-friendly experience every night throughout the entire holiday season. Adult tickets range from $29-$35, depending on the desired date to attend. Runs on select dates through January 5. More info here.

Grown in LA: A Festival of Los Angeles Wine -> On Friday, the Los Angeles Vintners Association (LAVA) will host a tasting event at Angeleno Wine Company, showcasing wines grown and made in Los Angeles. Sample unlimited tastings of over 30 small-production wines from 11 local wineries, with vineyards spanning Malibu, Bel Air, Santa Clarita, and beyond. Tickets are $71.21 per person. Food trucks will be available, and the L.A. Vintner table will highlight the lost history of Los Angeles winemaking. Runs 4 to 9 p.m. More info here.

Fairmont Century Plaza’s Swiss Chalet Returns -> Fairmont Century Plaza’s Swiss Chalet opens November 14, bringing the charm of an après-ski Alpine experience to Los Angeles. The cozy setup features a new prix-fixe menu at $115 per person, with classics like Duck Confit, Wild Mushroom Risotto, and Cheese Fondue with all the fixings, along with seasonal drinks like warm Glühwein. The meal concludes with a “Make Your Own Hot Chocolate” treat. Five chalets are available nightly for groups of 2-8. Reservations open November 14, and the Swiss Chalet runs through January 1, 2025. Luke’s Lobster Offering Snow Crab Rolls -> This week, Luke’s Lobster debuts a seasonal snow crab roll made with sustainably sourced Canadian crab. Available for a limited time online and at Southern California’s only Luke’s Lobster location in Santa Monica.

Breaking Bao Cookbook Celebration at Valerie Confections -> Pastry chef Clarice Lam teams up with Valerie Gordon to celebrate Lam’s debut cookbook, Breaking Bao: 88 Bakes and Snacks from Asia and Beyond, on November 12 at Valerie Confections in Glendale. The event includes a book signing, conversation, and a special $30 pastry box inspired by the book’s recipes. Highlights include Ube Chiffon Rolls, Mango Sticky Rice Cake, Ferrero Rocher Bomboloncini, and White Rabbit Sachima. More info here

Blu Jam After Dark: Czech Bistro Night -> On November 15, Blu Jam Café’s Tarzana location will host a special Czech Bistro Night in honor of Chef Kamil Majer’s Czech heritage. This monthly pop-up will offer a $45 four-course menu blending classic Czech flavors with Chef Majer’s twist.
