Moonlight Movies on the BeachFA > Long Beach’s signature beachside summer cinema series is back for 2024, continuing with screenings in July split between two locations. This week, catch The Princess Bride on Tuesday at Granada Beach a. Movies starts around sunset (8 to 8:30 p.m.). Free to attend, and parking is free after 6 p.m., though spots are limited. SheLA Summer Theater Festival -> Starting on Tuesday, The SheLA Summer Theater Festival comes to the Zephyr Theater this for a six-day showcase of new, original, creative works by gender-marginalized playwrights and composers in Los Angeles. Tickets start at $30 per performance, or you can get a three-show pass for $75. Get more info on the lineup here.

Hollywood Bowl Jazz Orchestra at Grand ParkM > Take a lunch break with some gratis jazz tunes from some of the best players in town, right in the heart of DTLA. The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, led by Charley Harrison, performs a free one-hour concert at Gloria Molina Grand Park from noon to 1 p.m. this Tuesday Free to attend. More info here.

Shakespeare in the ParkFA > The Independent Shakespeare Co. is once again bringing a summer of the Bard to Griffith Park, but unlike in past years, the 2024 season will focus on a single production. From July 10 to September 1, catch Wednesday-through-Sunday performances of As You Like It at ISC’s familiar space near the Old Zoo. The main show starts at 7 p.m., and you can catch a pre-show, immersive prologue at 6 p.m. Free to attend, but donations heartily encouraged. More info here.

The Comedy PatioM FA > Free standup comedy comes to Grand Central Market this Wednesday in the form of The Comedy Patio, a showcase taking place at Maple Block. Jeff Buck hosts a lineup featuring Mike Glazer, Alexa Loftus, Darran Davis, Trent Manning, and Terrence Murphy. Free to attend, but donations happily accepted. Show starts at 7 p.m. More info here.

Shakespeare By the SeaFA > The 27th anniversary season of Shakespeare By the Sea continues this week at Polliwog Park in Manhattan Beach with a Thursday performance of Cardenio and a Friday performance of Henry IV . All shows are free to attend, but donations are gladly accepted. Performances run at locations throughout L.A. and Orange County through Aug. 3. More info here.

Sunset Concerts at the Skirball FA TP > The Skirball Cultural Center’s annual Sunset Concert series returns this Thursday with a performance by Afro-Puerto Rican Bomba Fusion ensemble El Laberinto del Coco. All concerts include complimentary gallery access, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Free walk-up tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking is available from $15-$20. Asobi at JANMM > The Japanese American National Museum’s monthly series of artists showcases and interactive demonstrations gets a bit zine-y this Thursday, as Mya Worrell leads a session on zine-making using a single piece of paper. Guests will be able to enjoy specially crafted cocktails and mocktails from Wolf & Crane or beer from Brewyard Beer Company. The evening also features drinks from Sanzo and other light refreshments. Or you can even bring your own food! Tickets are $10. Runs 7 to 9 p.m. 21+ only. More info here.

All Space Considered at Griffith ObservatoryFA TP > This Thursday, join the curatorial staff at the Griffith Observatory for their monthly discussion on the latest phenomena and news in the world of astronomy during this evening presentation at the Leonard Nimoy Event Horizon Theater (also live streamed on the website). The June program features special guest Dr. Gabriele Vajente (Deputy Chief Engineer of the LIGO Laboratory) to discuss Gravitational-wave Astronomy: Listening to the Dark Side of the Universe. Dance DTLA at The Music CenterM FA > The Music Center’s Dance DTLA hosts an evening of Colombian Cumbia this Friday, with instructors will be on hand to teach guests easy-to-follow steps, allowing everyone to get into the groove right from the jump. Event runs from 7 to 11 p.m. Free as always to attend More info here.

Salsa Night at Ivy StationM FA > This Friday, hop over to Ivy Station in Culver City for an evening of salsa. Dance instructor Pepe Gonzalez teaches an intro salsa lesson from 6:30 to 7 p.m., then guests can use what they’ve learned during a live set by Fermin Fusion Salsa from 7 to 8:45 p.m. Free. Outdoors. RuPaul’s DragCon -> RuPaul’s DragCon brings two days of all things drag to the L.A. Convention Center this Friday and Saturday. Expect an assortment of panel events, shopping, performances plus plenty of face time from the stars of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Single day tickets range from $25 to $150. More info here.

Summer Concerts at The BroadM > This Friday and Saturday, The Broad hosts two nights of outdoor concerts at East West Bank Plaza. Tickets give guests access to the special exhibition Mickalene Thomas: All About Love and the third-floor gallery during the after hours event. GA cost $50 and VIP $75. More info here.

Friday Night Wine Tastings at Barnsdall ParkM > After a five-year hiatus, Friday night wine tasting events are back at the Barnsdall Art Park West Lawn. A $45 ticket gets you a flight of wine curated by Silverlake Wine, plus access to a rotation of food trucks, all supported by tunes from local DJs and sweet sunset views of the Hollywood Sign and Griffith Park Observatory. Jazz at LACMA – FA > The Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s annual Friday Night Jazz series is back for a season of free weekly concerts at Smidt Welcome Plaza through November. This week: a performance by Marvin “Smitty” Smith Septet. Remember that LACMA is free to visit for L.A. County Residents (with I.D.) on weekdays after 3 p.m. Seating is first come, first serve. Andrew’s Cheese Shop Grilled Cheese & Beer Night -> This Friday, Andrew’s Cheese Shop in Santa Monica invites you to a delectable Grilled Cheese and Beer Night. Garibaldi at the Corner Door -> Garibaldi, is set to host its inaugural pop-up event at Corner Door in Culver City on Monday, July 15. Guests can look forward to an evening of imaginative cocktails, from a refreshing sugar cane rum creation to a savory drink inspired by pozole. Complement your beverage with a selection from their food menu, which include a Kasuzuke-style crispy chicken sandwich, Hamachi Sashimi Tostada, and a Braised Pork Belly Sandwich.
