Movie Night at Angel City BreweryM FA > Every Monday is movie night at Angel City Brewery, and this week they’ll hosting a screening of Selena. Plus, remember that ACB has a Metro Mondays deal where you can get one 12oz pour of Gold Line or Little Tokyo for $3.50. Screenings are free, and free popcorn too. Black Bar Social at The Music CenterM FA TP > Once a month, The Music Center will feature an artist or culture maker who will pose a question and curate an experience to spark curiosity, imagination and conversation about the evolving cultural landscape of a vibrant Los Angeles. This Tuesday, Mashinka Firunts Hakopian leads an evening that blends ancestral knowledge and new technologies. Put simply, they’re gong to teach an AI to divine the future using an Amerindian technique that reads the patterns in coffee grounds. Free to attend. Runs 6 to 9 p.m. More info here.

Olafur Eliasson: OPEN – MOCA GeffenM TP > For their part in PST Art, MOCA Geffen is bringing the work of Icelandic–Danish artist Olafur Eliasson to Los Angeles for his first solo exhibition in the city. The exhibition includes a series of site-specific installations showcasing a “dazzling array of sensory experiences that harness the laws of geometric optics to address feelings and concepts of embodiment, perception, and participation.” OPEN will be on view Tuesday-Sunday through July 6, 2025. Adults tickets are $18, and reservations are required. More info here.

Invisibility: Powers and PerilsFA > On Tuesday, OXY ARTS hosts the opening reception for their PST ART: Art & Science Collide exhibition Invisibility: Powers and Perils curated by Yael Lipschutz. The exhibitions highlights a collection of work of artists, scientists and activists “doing ground-breaking and urgent work on rendering visible the people, histories and planetary conditions that have been erased within the cultural mainstream.” This week’s opening reception runs 6 to 8 p.m. and is free to attend. Spider Pavilion at NHM -> Explore the secret lives of spiders at the Natural History Museum’s Spider Pavilion, a unique seasonal attraction happening from September 15 to November 24. Walk among hundreds of orb weavers and their intricate webs, then peek into enclosed habitats showcasing a variety of spider species, including tarantulas and jumping spiders. Admission is just $10 with a timed ticket (required in addition to museum admission) or free for members.

Rodrigo Sanchez and Gabriela Quintero at The Hollywood Bowl -> On Wednesday, the duo of Rodrigo Sanchez and Gabriela Quintero bring the guitar-shredding ethos of thrash metal and the rippling runs of flamenco to the Hollywood Bowl. Tickets start at $10. More info here.

Redondo Beach Sunset YogaFA > Every Wednesday in September, Redondo Pier Association, MemorialCare Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach and Cancer Support Community South Bay co-present an evening of Sunset Yoga at the Redondo Beach Pier. The one hour flows begin at 6 p.m. at the west end of the pier. Make sure to bring a yoga mat, towel and water. More info here.

Dolphin Discovery at Roundhouse Aquarium -> This Wednesday, visit Roundhouse Aquarium in Manhattan Beach for Dolphin Discovery, a pop-up exhibit from 5 to 6 p.m. focused on Southern California’s bottlenose dolphins. The exhibit will feature dolphin sounds, videos, and interactive elements, giving visitors a unique look at the remarkable similarities between dolphins and humans.

LéaLAM FA TP > This Thursday to Sunday, the University of Guadalajara USA Foundation’s LéaLA returns to LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes for 2024 with a four-day literary festival promoting reading and books in Spanish and celebrating culture and the arts for the Latino community. Expect a packed lineup of children’s workshops, performances, readings, and presentations, all free to attend.

All Space Considered FA > This Thursday All Space Considered pops up at Griffith Observatory for their monthly rundown of the latest news in astronomy and space science. Program runs from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. More info here.

Horror Story: Writing Horror with Melissa Pleckham -> Lit Angels is hosting a one-hour horror story writing class that will teach you how to craft the perfect scary tale just in time for spooky season. Held at Village Well Books & Coffee in Culver City, tickets are $25. More info here.

Autry After Hours -> The Autry continues its series of Thursday evening events this September with after-hours museum access and live talks, plus special activations for each night that range from poetry readings and workshops to fashion tours and book signings. Admission is $18 for adults. Runs 6 to 9 p.m. More info here.

Local’s Night at the Santa Monica PierM FA > Local’s Night is back at the Santa Monica Pier this Thursday, with a Reggae-themed evening offering live entertainment including a classic car show, youth activities, art exhibits, DJs, and several reggae performances. Programming runs 3:30 to 9 p.m. Free to attend. More info here.

Getty and The Classical Theatre of Harlem Present Memnon – > The Getty Villa’s Outdoor Outdoor Classical Theater is currently hosting a production of Memnon, the tale of a powerful Ethiopian king who journeys to the city of Troy to engage in battle during the Trojans’ darkest hour. Written by Will Power directed by Carl Cofield and co-produced by the Classical Theatre of Harlem. Free to attend with advance reservation. Tickets are $45 person. L.A. Times Food Bowl -> The Los Angeles Times Food Bowl is back this year with a three-day night market (Friday-Sunday) with some of the most celebrated restaurants offering tastings right in the heart of Paramount Studios. Tickets start at $176.17 per person. Get more info here

Los Angeles Haunted Hayride -> The signature Halloween experience held in Griffith Park is back for 2024. The whole thing takes place in Midnight Falls, a fictional horror-town filled with roaming monsters. Check out the haunted mortuary and hop on the signature Hayride, this year the wagons get an update with built-in comfy seats. The season opens this Friday and runs through November 2. Hola México Film Festival -> The 2024 Hola México Film Festival is the largest Mexican Film Festival outside of México. Presented by Toyota Camry, the lineup features screenings at Regal Cinemas LA LIVE, The Egyptian Theater in Hollywood, and LA Plaza De Cultura Y Artes. Films range from documentaries, comedies to horror and dramas. Opening night is Friday, September 20, the festival will run through September 27. More info here.

The Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor -> After a four-year hiatus, Dark Harbor makes its return to the iconic Queen Mary on Friday with terrifying characters, haunted mazes, live entertainment, ghostly experiences, sinister eats and secret speakeasies hidden inside and around Dark Harbor’s mazes and attractions. Tickets start at $39.99. The experience runs from September 20 through November 2. More info here.

KCRW Summer NightsFA TP > On Friday, KCRW’s summer of free programming continues with an after-hours Jazz focused party at The Lawn at Century Park. Starts at 6 p.m. RSVP required. Get more info here.

Aloha MarketFA > Mana Up is bringing a taste of Hawaiʻi to Los Angeles with a three-day immersive pop-up shopping experience on Abbot Kinney in Venice Beach. Salsa Night at Ivy StationM FA > Ivy Station in Culver City hosts another Friday evening of salsa featuring an into lesson by dance instructor Pepe Gonzalez (6:30 to 7 p.m.) followed by a live set from Fermin Fusion Salsa from 7 to 8:45 p.m. Free. Outdoors. Open to the public. More info here.

Dance MDRFA > Every Friday night in September, shimmy over to Burton Chace Park for an evening of dance featuring beginner lessons from top L.A.’s dance teachers plus DJ spun tunes to get into the groove.
