Make Metro Part of Your Weekend

CicLAvia West Adams Meets University Park -> This Sunday, CicLAvia kicks off their 2025 schedule with a course that will connect West Adams to University Park. Come walk/skate/pedal along a 4-mile, car-free route that spans Jefferson Blvd. from La Brea to Vermont. Runs 9 a.m. tp 3 p.m.

Go Metro: Access the event via multiple stops along the E Line, including at Expo/Vermont, Expo/Western, Expo/Crenshaw, Farmdale, and Expo/La Brea.

LA Art Show M > The L.A. Art Show offers 180,000 feet of exhibition space at in the Los Angeles Convention this center over a 5-day event in DTLA, from this Wednesday to Sunday. Over 100 galleries, museums, and non-profit arts organizations will exhibit painting, sculpture, works on paper, installations, and photography from around the world. One-day admission is $35, and it’ll run you $250 to attend the opening night premiere. Get more info here.

Felix Art FairM > From Wednesday to Sunday, the seventh edition of Felix Art Fair takes over The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel with an international roster of 60+ galleries occupying both indoor and outdoor spaces of the iconic hotel. Tickets run $75 per day, or a run of the show pass cost $100. More info here.

Frieze LA -> Frieze Los Angeles is back for 2025 at the Santa Monica Airport. The four-day (Thursday to Sunday) presentation of art features some of the most renowned galleries in the world, and also includes special activations and pop-ups from a few of L.A.’s most popular restaurants. The Other Art Fair -> For spring 2025, the Other Art Fair is moving their four-day event from The Barker Hangar in Santa Monica to new digs in Atwater Village. This Thursday to Sunday, guests can expect a curated selection of over 140 independent artists, offering the chance to scout art for sale while enjoying live DJ sets, activations, installations, and a cash bar. Advance tickets start at $36.47 for opening night, or $23.09 for any of the other nights. More info here.

Black in Every Color, Art in Every Form -> This week at The Line LA, a multi-artist exhibition celebrates the Black artistic vanguard across a range of mediums, spotlighting works by mid and early career Black artists. The exhibition opens with a VIP preview on Thursday, then continues from Friday to Sunday with panels, performances, and immersive installations featuring contributions from JOJO ABOT, Lisane Basquiat, Patrisse Cullors, LÁOLÚ, Adrienne Muse, Autumn Breon, Langston Allston, Adrian Dunn, and more. Drunk Black History! M > This Friday, an east coast import comes to L.A’s Dynasty Typwriter, as comedian Brandon Collins (New York Comedy Festival) and special guest co-host Rell Battle (“Killing It” on Peacock) wrangle a gaggle of comedians, writers, and experts (all exceptionally inebriated) to share the blow-by-blow on historical Black figures and events. LA River String Band at Angel City Brewery -> This Friday, The LA River String Band brings their modern blend of folk and bluegrass to Angel City Brewery for a special concert. Starts at 7 p.m. and free to attend. More info here.

Boomtown Brewery 10th Anniversary -> Boomtown Brewery is celebrating their 10th anniversary all weekend long, starting with a karaoke session and lookalike contest on Friday (dress as Dominic Toretto, Billie Eilish or Fernando Valenzuela to compete for prizes!). On Saturday it’s the best of Boomtown with live music, trivia, and standup sprinkled throughout the day. Finally, Sunday caps things off with a ticketed INFMS Hip-Hop show. Get more info here.

Broxton Plaza Grand OpeningFA TP > This Saturday, Westwood Village is hosting a Grand Opening celebration for Broxton Plaza, which now offers the largest pedestrian plaza in Los Angeles as part of L.A. City Transportation Department’s People St Program. The kickoff events feature a slew of community activities, including a Boba Giveaway for the first 100 guests at Sharetea, a free roller skate area with rentals and protective gear for borrow for free, a soft play area for kids, and live music from UCLA Marching Band and other student groups. Culver City Book Festival FA TP > This Saturday at the Wende Museum, sync up with fellow book lovers at the free the Culver City Book Festival, which features a lineup of local authors, publishers, journals, and literary nonprofits. Fire Kinship Public GatheringFA > This Saturday, The Fowler Museum is hosting a community gathering in support of their newest exhibition Fire Kinship: Southern California Native Ecology and Art. FitspoLA at The BlocM FA > FitspoLA returns to The Bloc this Saturday with another free fitness session presented by UCLA Health. The event comes in two parts, with a Pilates workout beginning at 10 a.m. followed by a Zumba class led by LA Fitness. Free to attend, but pre-registration required. African American Festival at AoP – > On Saturday and Sunday, the Aquarium of the Pacific’s annual African American Festival celebrates African American and African culture through a two-day affair featuring dance, music, storytelling to historical displays. All activities included with general admission, which starts at $44.95 for adults. Baking Beyond BordersM FA > Head to LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes this Sunday for a special Gather for Good charity bake sale supporting immigration rights. Baking Beyond Borders brings together top local bakeries and chefs for an old-fashioned bake sale with a purpose—offering delicious pastries, artisan coffee, creative drinks, and live music by the Cosmic DJ. Rick Steves discusses On the Hippie TrailM > Travel guru Rick Steves comes to Los Angeles this weekend to promote his newest book, On the Hippie Trail, which recalls the Steves’ formative years as a travel writer, referencing journals he recorded during a 1978 trip from Istanbul to Kathmandu. Oscars Cocktails at Fanny’s -> Fanny’s—the stylish restaurant inside the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures—is rolling out a limited-time cocktail menu inspired by this year’s Best Picture nominees. Sip your way through ten creative concoctions, from Wicked’s baby pink banana and strawberry cocktail to Conclave, a rich red wine-based drink with sage honey, lemon, and soda. Prefer zero-proof? CaliMex BBQ Night at Maple Block Meat Co. -> This Friday, Maple Block Meat Co. in Culver City is firing up the smoker for a one-night-only CaliMex BBQ Night—a bold, flavor-packed tribute to the rich culinary traditions of Mexico and beyond. Led by Pit Master Rudy Suazo, the Maple Block team is tapping into their pit crew’s family recipes to serve up dishes like Smoked Brisket Birria Tacos (with consommé), Smoked Carnitas Torta, and Smoked Chicken en Mole Colorado.
