Make Metro Part of Your Weekend

L.A. Zine Fest at The BroadM FA > This Saturday and Sunday, L.A. Zine Fest pops up at The Broad’s East West Plaza for a two-day extravaganza of all things D.I.Y. publishing, all presented in conjunction with The Broad’s collection exhibition, Joseph Beuys: In Defense of Nature. Expect dozens of exhibitors, hands-on workshops, panel discussions, and plenty of art to scope out inside the museum galleries. More info here.

Pop Singalong NightTP > This Friday Highland Park’s worker-owned Pop Hop Book Shop hosts a Pop Singalong Night dedicated to the Divas of the ’90s. Presented by DayDreamer LA, local musicians play everything “from Britney to Whitney,” while guests sing along. Tickets range from $10–$30 on a sliding scale, with all proceeds supporting Gender Justice LA. More info here.

Fourth Fridays in Long BeachFA > Retro Row in Long Beach comes alive on the fourth Friday of the month with special pop-ups, live performances, and extended store hours from shops on 4th St between Temple and Cherry. The event runs 6 to 9 p.m. More info here.

Wellness & Waves FestivalFA M > Welcome your weekend at the beach with Santa Monica Pier’s Wellness & Waves Festival this Saturday. This all-day experience doubles as benefit for the LA Wildfire Relief, but it’s also free to attend (donations encouraged!) The lineup includes multiple wisdom talks and guided meditations, plus live music and a deep exhale dance party to end the afternoon. offer moments of reflection and deep connection. Mardi Gras at Benny Boy -> On Saturday, Lincoln Heights’ Benny Boy Brewing is hosting a NOLA-style Mardi Gras celebration featuring beads, brews, a puppy parade, and a live 5-piece jazz band to round out the entertainment. Food vendors will include Thicc Burgers (Po’Boys and Gumbo) from 1 to 8 p.m., then Craw Daddy Boiler (cajun Seafood and king Cake) from 6 to 11 p.m. Party starts at noon. Parade goes on at 5 p.m. Free to attend, but 21+ only. More info here.

PST ART Open House at The EbellFA > On Saturday, PST ART Open House at The Ebell offers a day and night of art exploration to conclude PST ART: Art & Science Collide. Highlights include the taping of a new game show pilot from Radiolab, a pop-up art-science book fair from Printed Matter, visions of alien life from the Berggruen Institute, artists and scientists in conversation, music and performances from AfroRithm Futures Group, Massima Bell and Julianna Barwick—plus a late-night “Hydrofeminism Lounge.” More info here.

Marina del Rey Dragon Boat FestivalFA > The Marina del Rey Dragon Boat Festival returns this Saturday, bringing a full day of racing and festivities to the harbor. Watch over 40 teams compete in thrilling dragon boat races, enjoy live music, explore arts and crafts, and grab a bite from food trucks. The event also features a welcome ceremony and an awards ceremony at Burton Chace Park. More info here.

Square Dancing -> LA Squares brings a lively square dancing night to The Mayflower Club in North Hollywood this Saturday. With music by Permission Pluckers and James Hutson as the caller, the night welcomes dancers of all levels—no experience needed! Mardi Gras at The Original Farmers MarketFA > The Mardi Gras celebrations at The Original Farmers Market kick off Saturday with live performances and the Mutti Gras Pet Parade & Costume Contest. Stop by The Gumbo Pot’s pop-up for beignets, king cake, and other Southern treats all weekend long. The festivities continue Sunday with more live entertainment and delicious eats, leading up to Fat Tuesday, when the holiday wraps up with live music on the West Patio and traditional food. Mahlerthon at LA PhilTP M > Drawing inspiration from the Gustav Mahler Society of California’s legendary listening marathons, the LA Phil presents its own Mahlerthon as part of the Mahler Grooves Festival. This Sunday at Walt Disney Concert Hall, the daylong celebration features performances by The Colburn Orchestra, Los Angeles Master Chorale, and ICYOLA, among others. Highlights include Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, “Resurrection,” and Movement 4 from Symphony No. 1, “Titan.” Tickets cost $10. More info here.

Smorgasburg LA: Calling All CarsFA TP > This Sunday, Smorgasburg teams up with the LAFD Foundation and Porsche Club of LA for Calling All Cars: A Festival of LA Food and Car Culture to Support the LAFD Foundation. Expect a stunning lineup of iconic cars from Southern California car clubs, plus live music, firefighter meet-and-greets, and a massive raffle to raise funds for the LAFD Foundation. Book Launch & Panel Discussion for Isabel Yellin at the Feminist Center for Creative WorkFA TP > Head to the Feminist Center for Creative Work in Glassell Park on Sunday for the launch of Isabel Yellin: Mothership! Published in conjunction with Yellin’s debut solo museum exhibition, currently on view at the Weisman, this richly illustrated book includes essays addressing motherhood, loss, and art-making as a way of working through grief and longing. This free event features a panel discussion with contributors poet Amy Gerstler, Weisman Director Andrea Gyorody, writer and editor Catherine G. Wagley, and artist Isabel Yellin. Blue White and Gold Pop-Up at Common SpaceFA > Any LA Galaxy Fans diehards out there? This Sunday, a Blue White and Gold Pop-Up comes to Common Space Brewery in Hawthorne for its third ever event. The pop-up features a collection of small businesses owned by LA Galaxy fans, and unites multiple supporter fan groups all in one location. Gather to shop and sip on brews then hang out as the Galaxy take on Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Market runs noon to 5 p.m. Viewing party starts at 2 p.m. Free and open to all-ages. More info here.

Live Performance at The HammerFA > The Hammer Museum invites the public to experience a special live performance by Jasper Marsalis inside the galleries of Alice Coltrane, Monument Eternal this Sunday on a stage designed for the exhibition by artist GeoVanna Gonzalez. Honoring Coltrane’s legacy as a musical innovator and her Sunday services at the Sai Anantam Ashram. Seating is limited, tickets are first come, first served, with the queue forming outside the Alice Coltrane galleries at 4 p.m. More info here.

Regarding Her’s 5th Annual Women’s History Month Festival ->  Regarding Her returns with its 5th annual Women’s History Month Festival, a month-long celebration of women-owned and led food and beverage businesses across Los Angeles. This year’s festival brings together top chefs, restaurateurs, and entrepreneurs for curated dining experiences, exclusive pop-ups, chef collaborations, mini marts, and more. Headlining events include a brunch at Amiga Amore and Moo’s Craft Barbecue, a pizza night with Hannah Ziskin (Quarter Sheets) and Nancy Silverton (Mozza), and a Sunday dinner at n/soto featuring Niki Nakayama (n/naka, n/soto), Mei Lin (Daybird), and other special guests. Beyond great food, the festival raises funds for LA wildfire recovery efforts and tackles funding gaps affecting women-owned businesses, with proceeds supporting Regarding Her Academy and member programs. The Annual Mardi Gras Menu at Little Dom’s -> Little Dom’s in Los Feliz brings back its annual Mardi Gras feast from March 1 through Fat Tuesday, March 4. Chef Brandon Boudet serves up Cajun and Creole favorites, while Pastry Chef Ann Kirk crafts festive desserts. The menu includes Chicken & Andouille Gumbo, Jambalaya Balls, and a Smoked Roast Beef Po’ Boy, plus sweet treats like Beignets with Raspberry Sauce and King Cake. More info here.

Iftar Menu at SHOR -> In honor of Ramadan, SHOR in Hawaiian Gardens will offer an Iftar (fast-breaking evening meal) nightly from February 28 through March 29 available after sunset. For $35 per person, this family-style menu features traditional dishes, such as Dahi Puri, Samosas, a selection of curries, and a sweet dessert to help break the daily fast. More info here.
