
Super Bowl Sunday is going to dominate the weekend, but if football isn’t your thing we’ve got a few other ways to fill out your social calendar.

Love Letter to LA – FA M > On Saturday, LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes is LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes hosts a day for the whole community featuring artmaking, wellness activities, music, access to essential relief resources, tea tastings, and more. Lil’ Libros will be on hand to assist with the artmaking, and guests are encouraged to create Valentine’s Day cards dedicated to Los Angeles. It’s all free and open to the public. MOCA First Friday – FA M TP > February’s edition of First Fridays at MOCA Geffen features free admission to the museum plus a live drawing session by Tim Biskup, Los Angeles-based artist who specializes in on-demand graphite drawings (like these). Free admission is available via timed RSVP slots from 5 to 8 p.m. More info here.
First Fridays in Chinatown – FA M > L.A.’s Chinatown stays open late on Friday for an evening of exploring the unique small businesses and contemporary art and culture spaces that make up the historic neighborhood. West Plaza and Chungking Road will activate with local pop-up vendors, DJ-spun music, and area galleries with extended hours from 6 to 10 p.m. The Damnoen Saduak Night Market will also be going strong at Far East Plaza from 5 to 11 p.m. Free to attend, as always. First Fridays in Bixby Knolls – FA > The February edition of First Fridays along Atlantic Ave in Long Beach will be a celebration of legendary musician Bob Marley. Expect live music, extended hours at participating businesses and restaurants. Runs 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. More info here. More info here.
Barbie: You Can Be Anything -> Barbie: You Can Be Anything continues at Discovery Cube Los Angeles with a traveling exhibit which showcases a variety of career dolls from the past six decades and highlights female Role Models who have broken boundaries. Kids can get hands-on using touchscreen interactives, themed role-play environments, and photo opportunities. It’s all included with general admission, which starts at $20 for adults and $17 for kids 3-14. More info here.
Hammer Opening Celebration: Alice Coltrane, Monument Eternal – FA TP > The Hammer is hosting an evening shindig on Saturday to celebrate their newest exhibition, Alice Coltrane, Monument Eternal. Expect late-night gallery access paired with DJ-spun tunes in the courtyard plus food and drink available for purchase. Party starts at 8 p.m. Free to attend with RSVP. More info here.
Frogtown Heart Walk – FA > This Saturday, Frogtown Arts (organizer of the semi-annual Frogtown Art Walk) is hosting a day of community and kindness along the LA River with over a businesses and food stops included in the activation. A central photo exhibit called Love Letters to LA will be on display at Happier Cafe, with proceeds from art sales to go toward wildfire relief efforts. The event runs noon to 5 p.m. More info here.
Alhambra Lunar New Year Festival – FA > The Alhambra Lunar New Year Festival pops up this Saturday with a day of cultural performances, live art, cooking demonstrations, and local vendors at an artisan alley. Runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. along Main St. Free to attend. More info here.
Puppy Yoga LA Wild Fire Fundraiser -> This Saturday, Common Space Brewery is hosting a special fundraiser to raise money for Pups Without Borders, with an aim to support pets impacted by the LA fires. Namestray Events will on hand to lead a puppy yoga class for guests, and 100% of the night’s ticket proceeds will be donated. Starts at 5 p.m. More info here.

The Music Center Presents: The Gift – FA M > This Saturday, step into a 30-minute immersive, music-filled reading room at The Music Center, where the story of two intertwined stars explores themes of grief, loss, human connection, and self-discovery. As part of PST ART, the event also includes a conversation with Reading Rainbow legend LeVar Burton (4:30–6:30 p.m.), which is already at capacity—but a standby line will be available. Lunar New Year Celebration at Santa Monica Place – FA M > On Saturday, Santa Monica Place celebrates the Year of the Snake with a free Lunar New Year celebration, hosted by comedian Paul “PK” Kim. Guests watch lion dances, enjoy live music, balloon artistry, and receive calligraphy blessings, while kids get creative in the craft area. Red envelopes with special deals will also be given away. Crushes Art Show & Zine Fest -> The Center for the Arts Eagle Rock hosts a Valentine’s-themed art show this Saturday, featuring a Polaroid photo booth and a marketplace of unique art and zines. The event supports local creatives while also giving back—proceeds will aid fire relief efforts, and a donation table will help rebuild the Palisades Branch Library’s lost zine collection. Westfield Culver City Black History Month Celebration -> Westfield Culver City marks Black History Month with free art, culture, and community events from February 8 to 23. The shopping center’s first floor will showcase works from emerging Black artists like Christen Austin, Mike Norice, and Tyris Winter. Highlights include a Community Kickoff Celebration on February 8 (1-3 p.m.) with live music, dance, and book signings, plus a Creative Expressions Day on February 15 (1-3 p.m.) where kids can dive into arts and crafts. San Marino Lunar New Year Festival -> The Chinese Club of San Marino brings its annual Lunar New Year Festival to Lacy Park this Saturday with a day of cultural performances, games, and plenty of festive eats. Lunar New Year Celebration at South Coast Botanic Garden -> The South Coast Botanic Garden celebrates Lunar New Year every weekend in February. On Saturdays and Sundays, the Garden will host a flurry of activities and present live performances at 9:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. featuring including lion dancers, folk dancers and drummers. 41st Annual Wild Mushroom Fair -> This Sunday, the Los Angeles Mycological Society’s 41st Annual Wild Mushroom Fair takes over the Ayres Hall at the LA Arboretum for a day packed with all things fungi. Expect a mushroom walk, cooking demos, keynote speakers, and even a hands-on workshop on cultivating your own cordyceps. Admission to the fair is included with entry to the arboretum. More info here.
Synthesizer Soundbath – FA > Unwind this Sunday at the Synthesizer Soundbath inside Highland Park’s Vintage Synthesizer Museum. Surrounded by over 40 synthesizers, guests can soak in calming drones and arpeggiations for a one-of-a-kind auditory experience. Lawless Brewing Super Bowl Watch Party – M > NoHo’s Lawless Brewing marks the big game this Sunday with a host of specials, including $25 Pitchers of Merchant Pennsylvania-style Amber Lager, wings and fries party packs from The Wing Man, and an all-you-can-eat vegan BBQ Buffet offered by Leaf Over Beef for $20. Second Sundays at the Audubon Center at Debs Park – FA > Second Sundays at the Audubon Center at Debs Park are all about getting your hands dirty with California native plants. Led by self-proclaimed native plant nerd Antonio Sanchez, this free workshop teaches you how to grow natives from seeds, cuttings, and more. Rose Bowl Flea Market -> Hundreds of vendors take over The Rose Bowl every second Sunday of the month. General admission is $13 for standard entry at 9 a.m., or (for the extra motivated shoppers) you can go in an as early as 5 a.m. for the VIP price of $20. More info here.

Fitoor Santa Monica Grand Opening -> Fitoor, Santa Monica’s new contemporary Indian grill and lounge, is going big for its grand opening weekend from February 7-9. Expect belly dancers, sultry cocktails, and exotic bites to set the vibe. Plus, their Dine LA menu runs through the weekend, with a portion of proceeds supporting food and beverage workers impacted by the fires via Restaurants Care.
Chinese New Year Dinner at Steep -> This Saturday, Steep in Chinatown teams up with the soon-to-open Taiwanese spot Souu LA for a special five-course Chinese New Year dinner. For $68, the menu features dishes like Fish Wonton in flavorful broth, New York Strip in Beef Noodle Sauce, and Tangyuan (rice balls) in Osmanthus Ginger Sweet Soup.
