1. [9 a.m.] Boo at the L.A. Zoo returns for a spooktacular season this year with a new “Nocturnal Adventure” maze and favorites like the Zoo’s “Animals and Boo” creepy crawler encounters, pumpkin-carving demos and other family-oriented fun. Weekend tickets will feature “Fearsome feedings,” during which carnivores will devour their favorite carcasses and bones.
2. [9 a.m.] There’s a Great Pumpkin Hunt happening at the South Coast Botanic Garden from Oct. 1 to Nov. 30 everyday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. featuring an imaginative scavenger hunt, light hiking, a pumpkin shop and access to the gorgeous 87-acre grounds. Great for families. Halloween costumes are welcome.
3. [6 p.m] Wolf Alice will play a free mini-set at Amoeba Hollywood. FREE
4. [7 p.m.] Grab a beer and get artistic by attempting to draw a live model at Angel City Brewery in DTLA when Drinky Draw returns for their popular beer and art event.
5. [7 p.m.] DTLA Talks: The Women who Shaped & Grew Los Angeles.
6. [7 p.m.] Write Club Los Angeles at the Bootleg Theater.
7. [7:30 p.m.] Astronomy on Tap at Der Wolfskopf in Pasadena.
8. [7:30 p.m.] Born in East L.A. (1987) – 30th Anniversary at the Academy of Motion Pictures.
9. [8:30 p.m.] The Business LA is a free comedy show at Little Joy featuring some of the best local comics in town. FREE
10. [various] Beyond Fest returns from Sept. 29 through Oct. 10 with 12 days of special screenings from around the globe at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood.
