Remember Royce’s Arcade Warehouse? You know, that oasis of classic arcade and pinball in the San Fernando Valley that offers free arcade play every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Well, there’s been a couple of recent changes at Royce’s that are worth a quick note.

For starters, it’s my sad duty to report that as of this fall free play Saturdays are no more. At least not in their free form. Open gaming hours are still held starting at 10 a.m., but now guests must pay a (very fair) $3 admission charge.
Furthermore, Royce’s is set to offer a brand new weekly open-play series beginning later this month. Starting on Oct. 21 Royce’s will have ‘Threeplay Fridays’ every Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.
The price point is the same as Saturdays. For $3 you get three hours of unlimited play of games such as Donkey Kong, Street Fighter 2, NBA Jam, Ms. Pac-Man, Joust, Frogger, Galaga, TMNT, Virtua Cop, Centipede, and many more.
As far as Friday afternoon goes, it would be hard to better value than that in all of Los Angeles (especially if you love old arcade games).
For those interested Royce’s also rents individual games on a month-to-month basis and the warehouse space itself is available for birthdays, corporate parties, and other social gatherings.
Royce’s Arcade Warehouse is located at 21817-A Plummer St. Chatsworth, CA 91311. Get more information at roycesarcade.com.
